Man killed in Clay County crash

CLAY COUNTY, Ky.(WKYT)- Police are investigating a crash that killed a man near Manchester Friday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on the Hal Rogers Parkway, near mile marker 18.

Police say a car crossed the center line, and hit the rear wheels of a coal truck.

The driver of the car was airlifted to a hospital in London, but police say he later died.

The coroner has identified that driver as 44-year-old Ricky Sumner, of Hazard.

The driver of the coal truck was not hurt.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.

Not exactly. I am not sure about being a lot 'worser' either, because that is not a word of the English language. Just because I live in Hazard, that does not mean that I abuse prescription drugs as many of you choose to do.

I've not said nothing bad about him, that hasn't been on topix about him before. You can find his name in about any negative Lothair thread.

I simply asked a question, and I get told I was bad mouthing him.

Must be easy for you to sit on your "high horse" and judge a dead man as you hide behind your computer. Rick may have had problems in his life, but none of you have a clue of the struggles he faced! You did not know nor love this man, so you do NOT get to sit in judgement of him now!! I'm sure there is someone out there who loves you despite the fact that you are clearly a total asshole, imagine what people might say when you die? Keep that in mind the next time you decide to open your big mouth. And you might want to read the newspaper (if by chance your stupid hillbilly ass can read) where it says both drivers were wearing seatbelts and neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash! Clearly you don't realize that the big ole internet stretches beyond your gossiping, back-woods ass Hazard and maybe someone with a little sense may read this. Ricky has found his peace in death, now let his children and loved ones remember him in peace without your two-cents. Instead of sitting on the computer gossiping try going out and making something of your life, you clearly think you are better than Rick.......go out and prove it and leave this man alone. I guarantee he never did a thing to hurt you!

you people are ridiculous! It doesn't matter what this man did or didn't do. He's dead! It doesn't matter what he did yesterday, the man is dead now, so try to have a little respect! How would you like for your family to read something like this about you after you're gone? It just makes you look like an ignorant, uneducated idiot to say something like that. I didn't know him, so I don't know what he did, but like I said, none of that matters now. What matters is that his family is grieving and you gossipy attention seekers have so little disrespect, that you'll say these things. What goes around, comes around and one day you'll be gone too, maybe sooner than you think, and it just MIGHT be YOUR name that ignorant people are dragging through the mud!

Not a cousin, but loved this man for many years and I felt the same way when I saw this nonsense post. First thought was who the hell puts up a gossip page like this in the first place? On line searching for his obituary and this is the crap I find. Not everyone is disrespectful and ignorant like some of these people on here, I see some kind comments and appreciate them. Rick was very loved by many people. And I know he wouldn't care what these idiots on here are writing about him. He wouldn't want us to either. That being said, it is very hurtful to see someone you love being judged so harshly by people who did not know the loving and kind soul that he really was. My heart breaks at the thought of a world without him in it, but I find solace in knowing that Ricky has finally found the peace he so desperately searched for all these years. He faced judgement day from the only person with the right to judge him and I am confident that God saw his heart and he passed with flying colors. Maybe some of these other people on here need to ask themselves if they will be able to pass on judgement day with so much gossip and hate in their mouths, minds and hearts. Regardless of what these people think, I know Rick will be forever loved and missed.
