I have often wondered about Adipex. How overweight do you have to be to obtain a rx for it? My cousin took Zantrex-3 and lost 18lb off that. I haven't taken it so I cannot vouch for it personally.

That Alli that is sold at Wal-Mart received some great reviews in a magazine I was reading. It is expensive enough but I'm not throwing any money out just yet.

Great topic. I'm also interested in the diet pills.

I take adipex and have lost 37 lbs with it. the weight didn't drop off over night, i have been using them for 7 months now. you have to remind yourself to eat sometimes. as far as them being bad for your health, they didn't affect me in a bad way at all. My blood sugar actually went down! it will make you very excitable until you get used to them though. if i didn't exercise through the day i would be very bitchy at night. that was only for the first couple weeks though. if you call the village doctor, karen kimzy, the receptionist will tell you if you qualify or not on the phone. i've used other dietary supplements and things, but adipex really helped me the most. i even stopped taking them for 3 months to see if i would gain my weight back like everyone says but i didnt. i think it all depends on the person though. if youre not motivated enough nothing will help you.

I tried the Adipexs myself last year & lost 41 ibs. in a few months but then I got pregnant & stopped taking them & after having the baby I went back on them & my body wouldnt lose any more weight it was like my body had adapted to them. Karen kimsey (the village dr.)then put me on Tenuate. It didnt work for me but I have a friend that has lost almost 20 ibs on them so far & shes still going strong...so I guess its different for everybody. Its all according to your age, gender & hormones. Atleast thats what Dr. Karen Kimsey told me.

Im taking adipex, and been on it for 6 days and lost 5 pounds (: Its great. But you have to watch out for the side affects. You have to maintain a diet and exercise.Yuo dont get hungry at all.

& the side affects usually dont accure until taking them long term.

I've taken Adipex and had lots of side effects like rapid heart beat, severe dry mouth (but it at least made me drink more water!) severe irritability, and it kept me up at night. BUT you WILL lose weight on it. Like another said, sometimes you have to remind or make yourself eat. I have also tried Tenuate and didn't have any of the side effects, but it didn't suppress my appetite as much either. Dr. Kimsey is located across from Dion's out by that hotel and she does Adipex and Spa Med at Primary Care does Tenuate. Dr. Kimsey may do Tenuate too, but she put me on Adipex.

Trust me I have taken a lot of nutrition courses and help a lot of people out with it, don't rely on pills! All of your over the counter pills are just caffeine pills laced with various herbs and such which are not regulated by the FDA and can cause you a lot of problems. Adipex or Phentermine as its called does work but it has not been tested for use over 2 to 3 months. It was part of the drug PhinPhin from a few years back that caused a lot of people to have damage to there heart valves. Any diet pill can be dangerous. The best way is the eat 6 meals a day, 3 main meals and 2 snacks. When your body goes over 3 hours without eating then its starts to go into Ketosis in which the body thinks that it is starving so it tries to conserve fat. So what would normally burn 3 pounds off of you would end up just burning one or not even that because your body is restricting it. In turn the body gives up muscle cells which weaken you. Muscle burns fat so you need to be doing at least 30 minutes a day of excercise for your heart and for your muscles. Remember the more muscle mass you have the more fat you will burn and keep off! Also with Adipex it will greatly increase your blood pressure (all do this to be frank) but Adipex raises it more than other over the counter pills. Just don't go for crash or fad diets and please be careful with the pills!

I am taking Adipex, been taking it for about 2 months and i've lost 26 lbs. you can get these pills at weight clinics in TN easily. Its pretty much a drive through, you walk in they take your weight, and then they give you your pills. there are several clinics in TN, some are cheaper than others. But i dont think any of them are over 120. But I go to Karen Kimsey. She's like any other doctor she will examine you and precribe them if your health is in good shape. A lot of my friends go to the ones in TN and they get a way better of a deal than i'm paying. I may consider changing! Good luck in using them, a tip is to start out with a half of one then move your way up! Depending on your tolarenc, I had never taken anything besides IB profurn so, i had to start out light. They really work as long as you dont have any health issues prior to taking them! My advice is to def know ur health before u start taking them.

Bison, thanks a lot for the information. It was really helpful and I appreciate it. I guess I was looking for the easy way out- in the form of a magical pill! LOL You sound like you know your stuff and having a medical background myself, I should know these things but for some reason never apply my knowledge when it comes to myself.

My problem is too much Mountain Dew and not enough water and juices. Maybe if I laid off the pop and exercised, I wouldn't be worried about a diet pill :/

Its understandable, I mean even though I work out I still break over bad every day, I eat way to much and drink to much pop, I myself have to cut it out also, so I'm in the same boat. I broke over a few years back and tried Adipex and it worked as they always do but I gained it all right back. I went to Kimsey (I think thats how she spells her name) and I had high blood pressure at the time and should not have been put on any form of diet pill and she took my blood pressure and gave them to me anyways and that really worried me because if you already have blood pressure and you take something thats as potent as Adipex you could signing your own death certificate. So that really worried me about ever going back. But yeah the good old hard way is still the best way. I am the same way though as you, I never apply my own knowledge to myself until it gets way of control and I have to stop and evaluate myself.

Well i go to kimsey as well. && ive heard story's after story's about getting took off of it and gaining it all back, but when you get took off of it then you have to maintain a diet and exercise as you did on the pill. Its hard though because were you use to the adipex not making you hungry. But all it takes is will power and the side affects can be really dangerous. If you have any side affects, you should be took off the pill asap.

Your exactly right. I went to Kimsey twice and both times I had blood pressure problems and she gave them to me anyway. See I didn't have any insurance so she told me she would let me go ahead and my prescription even though my blood pressure was technically to high to be taking it because I paid out of my pocket for the visit. This girl I used to date went to her with her sister and her sister started having bad stomach problems and such and Kimsey kept telling her not to worry about it and kept giving her more and more prescriptions (the doctors are not supposed to go over a 3 month supply on this drug) and she ended up in the hospital for a few weeks with internal bleeding and bad heart palpitations. I worry that she is not monitoring this drug and is not prescribing it right.

Despite popular belief, adapex is SAFE and efective if taken properly (like any other med) It does not cause heart probs, etc. Its been around for years, so if there were any long-term effects, the FDA would know. Ive lost 16 lbs in 8 weeks. I feel great. It transformed my life after 8 weeks of steroids that caused a 17lb weight gain. Im grateful for it and pleased with the results. Like with any weight loss- exercise and diet is still a must- u just dont feel starved because of the adapex. Good luck to u!
