What do you think about someone who lost a baby because she was taking adipex? THEN she got pregnant again while taking adipex and still takes it! She was trying to get pregnant and taking it! This IRKS me SO BAD to know that someone could be so heartless! She worries about being fat, but her other child is so over weight that is sad. SHE needs to stop trying to be a anorexic looking teen again and care for her child and UNBORN child!

While I do think it's stupid, it's not known how adipex affects pregnancy. there have been no studies, and no overwhelming claims of problems. As long as your doc prescribes it during pregnancy or knows you are taking it, then it's a chance you hafta decide to take or not.
Also, you don't know the adipex caused her to lose the baby! I have no clue who you are, nor do I know this girl, but rly? What's wrong with you?

You would have to be a damn fool to take anything like that while pregnant. It will give your baby heart defects. Not to mention hyperactivity problems.

That person needs her babies taken away then, thats not right at all. Sounds like shes selfish, and only cares about her self and what she looks like. Having some baby fat and a few stretch marks is nothing to be ashamed of, thats what real women look like! Mothers! Be proud to be a mother and wear your Mommy marks proud!

sounds like someone i know. no one should ever take adipex. it only says that you are too weak to discipline yourself to a healthy diet.

While there has been no official studies done; the reason being, any drug affecting the central nervous system is never recommended for pregnancy. Studies unrelated to pregnancy with adipex have shown that that there have been stillbirths, as well as lung disease in babies. An ETHICAL doctor would never prescribe this type of drug during pregnancy and any pregnant woman who takes anything that has the potential for harming their newborn baby doesn't deserve a child. Who in the $%$% would try to lose weight during a pregnancy? The natural process requires gaining some weight. This is ludicrous and if you can actually agree with this, you are no more than a moron who I pray never gets pregnant. Every baby deserves a fair chance at a healthy life. Personally, I live for the day when what few laws we have regarding mothers harming their fetuses will actually be in full force and new laws are put in place that make it a crime with heavy prison time for doing so. Some people should not be allowed to breed.

It must have been hard for you to see the first 7 words i wrote perched atop your high horse! How about you come down a few notches before you lecture someone? Your arrogance must be hiding your intelligence, because i definitely cannot see it!

If YOU had read my post correctly, you would have found that it said, " IF you can actually agree", this does not assume that you agree. IF, meaning "on condition" or"providing that". As far as arrogance, there is nothing arrogant about using common sense. Not sure what high horse I am supposed to be on, stating my opinion along with facts does not put me on horseback!!

Taken straight from the FDA website on Adipex...
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a pregnancy category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy.Adipex is a Pregnancy Category C. Pregnancy Category C is given to medicines that have not been studied in pregnant humans but do appear to cause harm to the fetus in animal studies. Also, medicines that have not been studied in any pregnant women or animals are automatically given a pregnancy Category C rating.

Adipex has not been studied in any pregnant women or animals. There have been a few reports of lung problems and stillbirths possibly related to Adipex use during pregnancy. Also, Adipex is chemically related to amphetamines, a group of drugs that has been shown to increase the risk of birth defects and miscarriages. Since it is not known whether Adipex-P is safe to use during pregnancy (and since taking Adipex-P is not absolutely necessary), it is generally not recommended for pregnant women."

Think that answers that! Almost positive a physician would not write an rx for this if they knew the patient was pregnant. If they did I think their medical licence should be taken away.

I was taking adipex and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I immediately stop taking them and went to the doctor to make sure I got a sonogram and listen to my baby's heartbeat... I would be foolish to continue to take them things knowing that would be a risk of me loosing my baby.. Now Im almost 5 months and my baby is doing very well.. I just try to eat healthy and eat sometimes treat myself to foods I shouldnt have but I wouldnt recommend nobody to take adipex while pregnant because I do know that while pregnant they dont work because the lil time i did take them while pregnant I still want to eat.

first off leslie u do not know the facts. im the best friend of the girl u r talking about. so lets set this straight. she was pg awhile back and lost the baby not because of adipex, she never took it while pg. yes she is taking adipex now to lose weight which is not a crime. no shes not trying to get pg again. losing that baby was so hard on her. thats the worst pain anyone can go thru. as far as her daughter goes u leave that baby out of it. she is not over weight. at least she is fed and taken care of. im proud of the way she is taken care of

I took adipex for 3 weeks then noticed I was still hungry which didnt happen to me when I took them the first time? Everyone said not to worry everyone misses periods when they lose weight and its probably just PMS but I took a test and its positive so now I'm worried cause according to my lmp I am just over six weeks ? Do you think it could of affected my baby? I know it's been a while since yous posted this but someone please help

Oh btw when I say the first time I mean I took them before years ago and they worked great..... Just unfortunate that I didn't know I was pregnant when I started taking them this time :(

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like any other drug, there's always a possibility that it could've affected your baby. Ask your obgyn. According to the research, there is no connection in addipex and birth defects. That doesn't mean I'd recommend anyone taking them while pregnant. Good luck with your pregnancy!

Nobody has asked a pretty important question here.

What does her Husband think about this?

Being overweight can often be a genetic disposition. Some of us are born with brown eyes or curly hair and others are born with the tendency to carry more fat on our bodies. It is a very hateful and callous statement to accuse the persons suffering from being "overweight" with having a lack of disapline. It is people like you who make this a situation in the first place. The last thing a bigger pregnant gal needs is more ignorant criticism.
