All the funeral homes must be doing a great job - Some people are just dying to get in their doors - And I might add , not one single complaint has ever come from the occupant of a grave - So there !!-

I beg your pardon, Engle-Walker is locially owned. The Walkers are from Leslie Co. They have been in business as long as I can remember in Leslie Co. They are very nice people. How much did they pay you for your 2 cents worth? They also spend locially.
Local is not Leslie Co. now is it? Perry Co is local. Besides that they are not nice there any more.

I completely agree. I love Clayton hes such a nut, he cant help but make you smile. Jeff is a sweetheart and anyone who knows him is lucky. They both make Maggard Brothers such a wonderful nursing home. You dont find that much care in many places. Ive dealt with over 20 family members funerals over the last 3 years and for me and my family we would go anywhere else.

The level of service in any funeral home (may) depend on the condition of the deceased and the ammount of life insurance , if any at all - These guys have to make a living and I'm sure they have some astronomical bills to pay - Cremation may be the way to go if funds are short - Funeral directors can't survive very long on " I'll pay you a little something on the 1st of every month " - Once the burial is complete , he has no collateral - Exhumations are not profitable at all - Death is going to befall every one of us - Burial insurance should rank right up there with rent , utilities , food , transportation , and fuel - Beer , smokes , drugs , cell phones , fancy levis , and cosmetics may eventually have to take a back seat - Unless , every family wants to start their own Natural Burial Memorial Garden - Have the viewing and wake at home , dig the final resting place behind the house , and let the kids , cousins , and / or neighbors be the pallbearers - That being said , after the interment , everybody sit down and enjoy all that good homecooked food that was brought in - Peace -(Been there - Done that)-

Engles was the best ever when Mark was alive. He teated my family with the utmost respect. I truely loved that man, and William Tackett,,,a very dear friend as well. I like Maggard's. I have nothing bad to say about either. And I also love Brashears. Of course, I might be a little biased since they are family, but I think Engles went to hell in a hand bag after Mark died and William left. They are not as friendly anymore,,,JMO.

Well I will tell you,Jimmy Maggard is a jerk. Go over to the new funeral home on the hill, they keep the doors locked have to ring the door bell to get in.Then if you ask for him he runs and hides from people. People I know him personally he has an alcohol problem, never in town, and the facts is that he participated in the vote buying scheme in Hazard last May and Nov elections. Now you have the choice to use who you want to as your funeral home But Im telling you that the people who work there have no respect for your loved ones at all.Its easy to put a suit and tie on and act as tho you hung the world when all your interested in is the insurance. Its even been told that one guy who workd there called stick Knocked a ladies front teeth out with a insterment because she had a overlap and left then in her mouth while perparing the body! What? Ummmm heard it was a local business mans sister. There are other things to like the grave diggers doing drugs on the cemetery and cussing and things while the family is right there. So, Its your choice but one day all this will come back to haunt Mr. Maggard like it did his Siter in Law 25 years ago! Just remember before you send your loved one there, DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS.

Maggard buried my poor little father...and they were professional and did such a great job...and at the same time caring..all we had to worry about was grief...everything was taken care of by them..and they buried my grandfather many years before the same way...and my cousins son..they have respect that they have earned over the long years.

Well, I still stand by what I said in an earlier post, Engles USED to be the best in the county. However,,,I would not use any of them now, not necessarly because they do a bad job but because I feel like I am an inconvenience to them. Last time I used a funeral home, I went to Pike County. Hall and Jones is awsome, just saying!!! Keven is a great guy, professional, will bend over backwards to help a person...They are great, I have used him twice, and I will do so in the future as well. If Mark were still alive, he would be the one I would use, but unfortunately,,,he is no longer with us. I just can not understand how he could be such a sweetie while Judge Engle is such a prude...Oh well, Bill never did want anything to do with the family business, which I suppose is his own business but I have heard, and now how true it is I can not say, but I heard he has been reported as talking negative about the funeral home when his brother was alive and coroner...All I can say is this, Mark WAS a wonderful man, with a kind soul. That was a real loss when he was killed. I still misss him. And I know he had a posative impact on everyone who knew him. I sat and listened to William talk about how great he was, and watched as he shed tears over the loss of his best friend. As far as Jimmy goes, lol, is all I can say. The elder Jimmy is a great guy from what I can tell, but his son,,,he's a crack pot. Why he even went through and got his degree in Moryuary Science, I never could figure out. I know he could do a good job if he just would, and if he could stay out of jail long enough...But he definately has that attitude problem going on,,,which you can not have if you are going to work in that field of work. And as far as Brashear Callahan goes, they are great as a funeral home, I love them to death, they are family, but overpriced. But,,,nothing is cheap these days..Hell, I can't afford to die. I guess I'll have to start a savings account before I can die!!!!
