Boy are you wrong. My mother died there. Of lung cancer. But I do know hospitals well. And nursing homes and doctors offices. It doesn't take a genius to know that most of the people who complain about something have an axe to grind. And most people who go to the ER do it because they don't have a doctor who will treat them because of addictions or other issues. So sorry to disappoint you.

It's funny how so many people who know nothing think that drugs are just sitting there on the counter to be taken. There is a computerized machine that dispenses medications. That means you put in your ID number and the name of the patient and it will dispense a pill. Not 20. And only those that are prescribed for that pateint. The bottom line is that nurses are people like everyone else and I'm sure there are addicts in all walks of life. So look out for the addicted mailman, the addicted truck driver and the addicted coal miner. And don't forget about the addicted farmer, the clerk at the store and the cable guy.

Yeah there are addicted people in every line of work, the problem, when it comes to the numerous, drug addicted nurses at our hospital, is the simple fact they're depriving patients of med's they actually need,,, And yes I do know this for a fact...I have saw it myself, my husband was in the hospital and somehow (sarcsm) every time his med's were due, I would have to argue with the nurse because she would pretend she had givin them to him when I knew she hadn't, and yes I reported her and no, nothing happened. Also when I was pregnant, upon first being admitted my nurse was great, but within a matter of hours she could hardly talk and had pill residue hanging out of her nose, while her co-workers said and did nothing, and to make it worse, she had to accompany me in the ambulance all the way to lexington... Sorry but that is true of most ER's. If you have a history of heart issues ask your doctor what's the best way to deal with it. Some doctors, depending on you history will make you a direct admit. Which means you are admitted and not sent through ER. But this is usually for someone who has a history of heart attcks. Also, ask him what he recomends you do if you have chest pain. Some will call the ER and tell them you're coming in. Some will tell you to take an aspirin and some will just look at you like you are stupid. Oh yeah, fire them. Most ER visits are for non emergency issues which is why you wait for hours. If you are having issues call the doctors office, don't wait 7 hours and THEN go to the ER. People come in and say " I've had chest pain for the past 7 hours but I didnt' think it was important". If the doctor's office is open call them first.
I am visting from out of town which is why i went to the ER here.Im 4 hours from home and after a day out with family my chest started to hurt and i got very ill.I dont have a history of heart problems so i was scared.Long story short i went to the Jackson ER which was Great. Good people friendly nurses.I was treated and released with follow up with my doctor.Great staff over there im so pleased i went there.Im leaving for home friday but i will put in a complaint first to that ER.

Why don't all you complainers that don't like ARH stay away and go somewhere else. ARH is a fine hospital and will continue to care for the sick without you. As always there is someone mad in this world, someone who thinks they are mistreated. Why don't you few go elsewhere and get your drugs or whatever you want. On any given day you will find the parking lots full, the waiting rooms full, and all beds fulls. So they must be doing something right. Granted sadly there are patients that die but they are a hospital, they can't save all of them. But if you need to you can come on in and if its an emergency, not determined by you but by the dr or nurses, you will be taken care of. If not you will sit and wait untill the sick are taken care of. And needing a pill or a fix is not an emergency. And for those who choose to come to the emergency room cause you don't have time to sit at the drs. office or because you have the GOLD CARD and you don't have to pay, bring you a book cause you will be waiting till the real emergencies are taken care of. Get over it.

I would just about bet my next paycheck that those who complain would NOT drive to another hospital if their lives depended on it. I wouldnt, if I was sick enough to go to the ER, it would be to the closest one. Course these are the same people who would complain if they had gold plated a$$holes s@!tting gold turds.

OK what family member do you have that works there ?

yes dr. francis is great and i am sure some nurses are good but when you must wait for house keeping and you walk up to the floor your family member is going to andd see rooms and beds ready why blame house keeping.

Thats why people around here get terrible care because of people like you. They know its a close hospital and many cant go anywhere else. There is no need for a nurse to roll her eyes at a person needing care. If there that unhappy with there job they need a new one.

I will never go back to ARH I went sunday for very severe jaw pain, I understand that going to the ER you have to wait a wile. But when people got there after I did and they were sent back before me I asked the lady at the front dest why I havent been seen when people are going ahead of me. She told me she forgot to write my name down and I had to tell her everything that was wrong yet again. Then she said I would be next, I wasn't.. Finaly three hours later I go back and all the doctor did was ask if I had been in a accident which I told him no, so he felt the outside of my jaw and told me that I grind my teeth and to go get a mouth guard. I told him that I didn't grind my teeth and to please take a second look, because I needed somthing for the pain. He told me to go get tylenol over the counter, and then told me I could go then left.. He thought I was lying about my pain and didn't do anything.. So I left very mad and in pain, so I went to Primary Care and told them what happened, they took x rays of my mouth, and it turns out that all four wisdom teeth are severely impacted and I have to have sergery to cut them out asap.. This is why I will never go back..

I hope that you will report this to the hospital and let your insurance company know. It wouldn't hurt to call an attorney either. There is no way I would pay for this visit nor would I want my insurance to. But not every case is like yours. The reason they thought you were seeking drugs is because as you read on here there are a lot of people who go there to get drugs to sell. But for every honest complaint of neglect at any hospital there are at least a dozen where people are upset because they didn't get pills to sell. It wouldn't hurt to let JACHO know as well. It is the Joint Commission on healthcare.

You act like this hospital is the only one with these problems. It isn't. But most hospitals deal with non emergency issues because people have medical cards and they think nothing of going to the ER for a sore throat or an earache that is better off being treated by a family doctor. If you actually look at the number of true emergencies that are in there you won't find many. And you have to realize that even if someone is having a bad day it doesn't mean they have a bad day every day. Maybe they have a family member who is dieing and they can't afford to leave work. Maybe they lost a family last week and are grieving. Just because you don't feel good doesn't mean they do. And if you go in with an attitude they will soon develop one

Well the patient has lives to you know.I know many people who go to the er cause its after work hours. If you work 9 to 5 every doctos office is closed and if you have a crying child hurting you dont want to wait till morning to go to the doctor or maybe you cant afford to miss work yourself. My neighbor and his wife both work him full time her part.Neither job offers insurance so there children have medical cards they have none. They work hard and because they have medical cards doesnt mean they dont work and are there just wasting time.

My fiance' just spent five days in ARH, I must say he was treated with utmonst respect in ER and on the floor after he was admitted. His room was cleaned daily and his bed was changed daily. We have no complaints about ER or any of his nurses. Everyone was so good to him. I for one am thankful we have ARH. We could be like some counties who does not even have a hospital. Everyone says they would never go to the ARH, but it seems as if it stays full all the time.

I know there must be great people there but i got a crappy person and it just wasnt fair. How would you feel if you were treated like a dope seeker?it just wasnt right.

Yes, they have lives too. But surely they have a family member who watches those children and could have taken them to the doctor during office hours. Just because they have a medical card and don't have to pay for it doesn't mean they need to use the ER as their private doctor. Anyone in healthcare will tell you isn't the best care. Because there is no continuity. They don't know your child, you doctor does or should. If you have a crying child who is hurting why weren't they taken earlier in the day to the doctor? Are you trying to tell me that it is society's fault that they can't take their child to a doctor during the day? That is a parental problem, not society. Call the grandparents, an aunt or someone. Don't get me wrong, I've been there. But I either traded a day with someone or found someone to take the child in. Since a visit to the ER costs about 5 times the cost of the office visit why should we pay for it when the child should have seen his own doctor?
