It's trading one drug for another. How is that any way to get clean?

I agree. If it were done right it would be good but they allow people to stay in the program way too long. JMO

in my opinion the methadone clinics is a way for the government to control the druggies and kill them off legally....they give u one drug to get addicted to in order to get off another drug that ur addicted to and this drug is more powerful than what u r already addicted to.....the doctors will perscribe methadone and xanax, knowing that is a deadly combination, and give u 90 or more of each a month...i mean come on ppl, can u not see what this is doing to us...cant we learn from other ppl's mistakes and make a change in our society before it is to damn late....Peace out

I'm not a fan of methadone clinics myself, However, this comment is a little dramatic, don't you think? Lol.

Methadone Clinics were intended to wean heroin addicts off of heroin. It blocks the effects of heroin to my understanding. Anything else is abuse.

Legal way to get high and keep druggies off the street. I agree if they ran the place the way they're supposed to it would be a good thing. I was under the impression that they were supposed to decrease the dosage not increase. They keep them in the program way too long..

I don't know if it's legal but they don't seem to have a time limit. Many people have been in this clinc in Hazard for years, ever since they opened the doors. That is way too long.

You can judge people that have had to go to a methadone clinic that takes weekly drug test, sees a counslor once a week and has to drive to the clinic and take their medicine every day, if you have never been addicted to anything then you dont understand, I could care less what you say. I spent 8 months in there, now is that to long? And when you start the take your dose up until you are leveled out and not out taking other drugs leave you there long anough to get stable and then start bringing you down. If you knew how it really worked you would know that. Some people may abuse it but most use it to get better but of course again if you have never had an addiction to something you dont understand.

I agree. 8 months is not really long enough to get stabilized. Many things have to change in order to remain drug free and it does take some people longer than others. I pray for all those that are addicted and needing help.

I have respect for anyone trying to detox. I also have the utmost respect for anyone who "Truly" wants to stay clean.

What I don't have respect for is the clinic regulations that allow people to remain on a drug that causes their teeth to decay and bones to deteriorate.

As I stated above, 8 months is not a long time. There are people that have been there for 5-9 years. Way too long. Just my opinion.

As for not knowing what an addict has been through you would be surprised at how many people that have walked in others shoes. I'm a firm believer in not judging. I wasn't judging the people who were addicted, only the clinic regulations.

You have never had a loved one to die from an overdose or you would have never made that comment. You have to understand that a drug addiction is a disease that most likely will never be a cure for. Doctor's don't help the dealers don't care and society treats them like trash. Well those people are someone children, mother or father, brother, and sisters. Don't judge them because you know nothing about that side of life it is very painful to family members. You need to help find a cure and not talk about the deceased. It is no LAUGHING MATTER.
