I live on this street, although I was not home at the time my brother said he heard 15 shots. They have the house taped off. Of it's the same house I'm thinking about a few months back I remember not feeling safe to walk home after parking my car seeing a large group of men leaving that house. The cops are still here. I came earlier but they wouldn't let me get in so I came back a few hours later and they finally let me go in. There was glass all over the road. I cant find anything on the internet.

I also live on this street. My family heard a lot of gun shots last night. the cops were not allowing anyone to enter the street. I spent the night at a friends house and went home this morning and there were still cops out there and the area was yellow taped and broken glass on the road. its so sad how much break ins and crime happens in this area. So many families with kids living in this area. The HOA needs to hire a full time security to patrol the area since we pay so much to them.Where does this money go? The gardeners come around once every other week.I am really hating it here and upset that we even bought the place.

My grandparents bought a condo here 20 years ago but since then the neighborhood has definitely been goin down hill and getting worse lately. The HOA definitely needs to hire full time security because the problem is not getting any better. I heard a little kid may have been shot and it was all over a fight between 2 teens and somebody wanting revenge afterwards. Don't know how true that is though...

I live on ponderosa ct also. I heard the shots, must have been around 7pm. I left and the police stopped me to ask me what i saw/heard. At that time there was many people being questioned by many officers in groups. I over heard a young girl say that her momma got shot. Another person was telling the police that "they were banging on the door, just banging and banging, trying to get in"
If all of us live on the street, it is up to us, not the association, to secure our homes. Be aware of whats going on, call the police when anything is suspicious. Like why do they need to 'hang out' on the street....
It was a few months ago that a car pulled up, and opened fire on a group of guys that were just hanging around. That day, there was return fire.
It does suck, i been here since 1998, and the only gunshots i have ever heard over here were these two times. Lets come together as neighbors and put a stop to this, and build a strong healthy safe community for the children....

It is probably drug related.(a guess) One time, the cops drove by and the guys hanging around all took off running....I asked the police what happened and they said they figured if they ran they are hiding something...

I have been intimidated by these punks a long time.
Since they were little kids... They need jobs.

You are so right. There has also been breakin's but I heard the group that did it most got caught.YES, I agree with Roach. We all need to fight this together.Call the cops whenever anything is suspicious and questionalbe. Our kids cant even go outside and play.I do like living in that area. Its not that bad.But having these "punks" causing trouble in our area is unacceptable. We have enough struggles in our lives and yet these "punks" think its okay to walk around with guns shooting at people over petty things. What are they teaching their kids?

Yahoo had a write up about it.... Apparently a 17 year old got shot 6 times inside his house through the closed front door. While the other bullets flew into the house and through walls with even younger children inside...

The article says that it was an angry parent, but then say says the police cant find the shooter...

Makes no sence, just like when the police interrupted me to ask me if i called 911 before, or after i heard shots....

The ignorance on all levels baffles me...
Who lets a 4 year old play out here without an adult my god.....

I dont know how to start a new topic but on Saturday August 18th, 2010 there was yet another shooting. I cannot find any information about it anywhere, then tonight, again, august 25th, 2012, one week later, yet even another shooting around the 8:00 pm hour.
This time I heard from the police that 2 people were shot, and were still alive.(hopefully that hasn't turned for the worse). I was pretty sure i heard one of the policemen say they needed the coroner, which tells me that there may have been someone killed as a result.

How do we get the local news to cover this story?
Does anyone else have information about this recent violence? Links? anything?

Two people who had jobs and were doing good for themselves. I'm real sad tonight but I don't want to say their names since I don't know for sure and hope they neither one are dead. People truly need to help take action and divert all this negativity and give kids more activities to occupy themselves with something positive.

And most Hayward Violence or crime don't get reported. From what I have heard is that The City has some kinda block on crime reporting which I 'm not sure whether it is true or not but that website and app that shows like every police report on google earth kind of map it will show all the crime going on in every surrounding city but when you scroll over Hayward theres very few if any.
Listen to a scanner and it's a whole nother story.

I am sorry to hear about your friend.

Diverting the violence is exactly what we need to do. Where to start? the police don't even know.
They probably block the media because they don't want the public to know how clueless they are. "We are investigating" is more than we can expect to hear.

The shooting on the 18th must have had 20+ witnesses, and still as far as we know, nobody has been arrested.

Rather than cleaning up after a shoot out, and chasing everyone who matches a general description all over town, we should find ways to help resolve the differences or conflicts, without violence. But I guess all you have to do to provoke these people is wear the wrong color shirt, I dont know.

Maybe they block crime reporting but they cannot block reporting on why they block reporting...hmmm
Conspiracy theories? That is suspicious enough. Freedom of Information Act demands that we have the right to know! Let the investigators be investigated. Let the real crooks of Hayward and Alameda County please stand up. If they are not taking the guns off the street they must be providing them...hmmm Maybe....maybe... What happened to the gang task force that increased taxes in the community? Its more like a gang of thugs with badges.
