I am a male in my early twenties and am considering going to a community college for two years and transferring to a four-year university. I have a few questions regarding the practicality of this idea.

1. What is the economic situation in the area? Is it reasonable to find a good part-time job for a full-time student?

2. Where are good places to rent? What should I expect in the price range? Where might one find roommates?

3. Besides Chabot College, what are some other community colleges in the area that would allow me to transfer all of my credits to a four-year university?

4. I am currently located in Columbus, Ohio. Seeing as I am now in the Midwest, public transportation is mediocre here. I would like to know how well public transportation rates here. Taking the bus and/or train is something I would rather do than drive around the bay area, stuck in traffic and spending time and money parking.

Suggestions, queries , and constructive critiques are strongly encouraged! Thank you.
Just wondering

You shouldn't have a hard time finding a pt job. They are out there.
Our public transportation is awesome. You can pretty much get anywhere.
For prices and house mates look at craigs list. I'm sure the school bulletin boards have people looking too.
There are other schools around there's one on Fremont I can't believe I can't remember the name, and laney in Oakland.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the information. I'm just wondering just how to go about this. Should I find a job first, and then a place to live? Moving across the nation is such an arduous task.

I'd say start with crags list, you can look for a job and housing all in one place! That's a big move and I wish you the best of luck! What kind of job are you looking for?

I'm just looking for a part-time job, perhaps something akin to working in a Walgreen's.

Well if you start at a walgreen's where you live now, then maybe you can transfer. That way you'll have a job ready to go. Good luck
