he was 18 years old and had just been beat up by 3 thugs. was face down with 2 LEOS on top of him, the officer clearly stood up and drew his weapon and fired and reholstered the weapon like nothing happened. there were at least 3 more LEOS there. thats 5 officers, they could have held him down all day or pepper sprayed him or tazered him, or cuffed his hands and feet, or batoned him. so so sad he felt he had to shoot him.
god help the family and the daughter who lost her father.

Let's wait until ALL of the facts come out although BART has dropped the ball in not getting the information out to us. It is looking more and more like this officer mistook his gun for his taser gun and mistakingly shot this young man. This certainly is not common but it has happened rarely in the past. The excitement of the situation can sometimes lead to tragic and fatal mistakes. The young man was not helping the situation by resisting arrest, struggling with the police...and that is quite obvious in the videos. It is admittedly a tragic death but accidents do happen and so far there is no proof that it was an intentional (gun) shooting. With all those other cops around, witnesses on the platform and a train full of passengers standing by this seems highly unlikely.

Shiny suited millionaire ambuilance chasing attorney John Burris isn't helping the situation by jumping at conclusions (he can smell those big bucks right now!!!) and comparing this incident to the Rodney King beating...but what to you expect from that pompous, racist fool?

BART has really looked bad here by refusing to comment, saying they haven't even interviewed the officer (say what???). That's about what you would expect from those fools though, they have no idea even how to run their trains!

Well the savages from Booga Booga land combined with some burned out hippies and pierced punks are now on a rampage in downtown Oakland. Setting fires, wrecking innocent peoples' cars, breaking storefront windows. Any excuse for a riot you know, just like the 1960's. I'd call these turds with legs animals except that would be an insult to our four legged friends. No they resemble more what came out of my rectum this morning if you know what I mean!

I know it does not make anyone feel any better about the situation but I really do think it was accident
Im so sorry to the family of the victim but I am also so sorry for the officer be cause I do not believe any officer would be so stupid as to pull out his gun and shoot an person in plain view of 50 to 100 people on purpose . I think what happened was he meant to pull out his tazer and got mixed up with all the commotion . You do have to admit it was pretty chaotic.

I was giving this officer the benefit of the doubt before he refused to speak to BART about what happened, a pretty sure indication that he has something to hide. Something like grabbing a gun instead of an intended taser could have been explained to BART and the public and even though it was still a tragic death it could have defused the situation. His week long silence and then sudden resignation because he STILL doesn't want to talk to BART or anybody else is extremely disturbing. You have to wonder if he just didn't flip out or think he was another Dirty Harry or one of the angry rogue cops that seem to be such common movie heroes nowadays. I now find his conduct despicable and he's partly responsible for the furor and rage we've seen. I'm not condoning the scumbags and punks who did the rioting at all, I have as much contempt for them as I do for the officer.
