My son wants a pair of Beats Headphones and if anyone else has looked you know they are pretty expensive. I was just wondering if anyone knew of another name brand that would even compare to Beats and if so how much they are. Thanks for any info I get.

Beats by Dre are well worth the money you will spend for them and there are other headphones just as good but they are in the same price range. They come with a 2 year warranty every major artist and sports player advertises them reason being they are the best. I have a pair myself and they are 10 times better than any other headphones I've ever had. I also understand some people have financial problems but if u cant afford them all at once they do have beats in fingerhut and other rent to own stores like rent one which you will pay more for. Again they are well worth every dollar.

There are some nice looking off brand beats headphones @ tj maxx stores for $20. I bought my son a pair to wear to his moms instead of his real beats. The look is just as nice but the sound isn't as crisp as the beats but still sounds great especially for a kid.

Thanks to both of you for the info. We've went to Best Buy and listened to all of the ones they have and I know the Beats had the best sound, more bass, just way better. We do have a Fingerhut account so I think I will order them from there. It blew my mind at how much of a difference there was between Beats and the other name brands. Someone told me to check out the Monster ones and I don't know if they just didn't have the top quality ones out or what, but they didn't sound that good especially after listening to the Beats. I think it was Monster DNA or DLA, something like that. Anyways I appreciate the help and advice. Have a good one.

Beats are overpriced hype. There are better sounding ones for less money. I tried a set of beats and they are very Heavy in weight. I was not that impressed.
Beats are overpriced hype and just because you see kids wearing them on American Idol does not mean they are the holy grail of headphones.
Go here for top ten premium headphones as you can see there are no BEATS on the list.

Oh and another thing I would not let my teenager go in public with a pair of beats on their head.
Just like back in the day when Nike Jordan's could get you killed now people are robbing mugging and even murdering to get those BEATS headphones.

Beats by Dre is an absolute joke. Back in the day, you had reputable brands like Mark Levinson or Bose. I owned a pair of each, and their ability to reproduce music exceeded anything I have heard since.
The story behind Beats is that Jimmy Iovine and Dre got together and set up an agreement to put their name on Monster, Inc's headphones, which were pretty good at the time. After 5 years, Jimmy and Dre screwed the owner of Monster, took his patients and started what you see today. It basically killed Monster, and the quality dropped dramatically.
Now here is the catch besides the dirty way Beats came to market; the same people who are in charge of the "popular" music now are the same guys who make these headphones. They intentionally produce the music in such a way that it sounds better on the Beats headphones. Of course, if you are going to spend your life listening to only what they produce, and are willing to shell out for a new model every few years, then great. However, if you decide to listen to anything other than what is produced by Iovine, you will quickly see how useless the Beats models really are.
If you want a high quality pair of headphones that will outperform Beats all day long, check out Sennheiser, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, or even Bose.
