oh, by the way, In a report last year, wasn't Pemiscot county the very bottom of the list? Out of all the counties in the state of Missouri? Christian county, on the west end of the state, being the best. Isn't this due to illiteracy, drugs, health, alcohol, lowest income, drawing most disability, etc.???

SOOOO, BEING THE "Pseudo-Elite" in Steele means what exactly?!?! Ah, equal to the Royal Family in England? OR, maybe, more like the Dung Beetles on top of some horse crap?!?! I think, although I am only a lowly one, DUNG BEETLES ON A TURD. Yes! and that goes for your henchmen and lackeys.

Plus, I do not get "government subsidies" and am not in debt for anything. Got everything I got (as did my parents) from MERIT AND HARD WORK ONLY. Also, I am on no prescription drugs ... wink, wink, nudge, nudge ...

All you whiners, take your kids somewhere to a basketball camp if it means that much to you.
What! move on to the basketball camp only to find the same thing. Call me a whiner if you want. See ,I am old enough to take it, I know who I am and what I stand for. If it takes a whiner to try to help these kids then so be it. I don't have kids in baseball and but been around it enough to see whats going on."Jealous" of the coach? You have got to be joking. Theres nobody in this town I am jealous of, whether you have money or not, I can assure you that. Its a fact some people don't have heart. " Not " the kind of heart that says, look what I am doing, the kind of heart that actually wants to help these kids that are not played. They are not emotionally old enough to totally understand. Its peoples attitudes like yours that keeps the kids sitting on the benches.Sorry, jealous is all you could come up with? Not good enough!

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!! When they use the excuse of, Jealousy, that is just more arrogance and excuses. Some people do think that they are so important, "all that", and have enough money to truely believe in their own minds that everyone is jealous of them. What a fantasy!!!!!!!!!! A laughable fantasy.

Chance this whole discussion has gotten off course. We live in a democracy. If you don't like the way things are done change them. If you could be a better coach than what we have. Get your degree and do it. If you don't like the school board run for it or vote for someone you like. I'm sure you are one of your buddies would like a job where you get criticized, work lots of hours and get no pay. Teachers and coaches work hard for not much pay. You could do that too if you wanted to. As for the kids sitting on the bench that you are so worried about they aren't the ones complaining. They are happy to be out there with their friends doing something they enjoy. Their time will come. Its their parents that are doing all the whining. Complaining on topix doesn't do any good. What are you doing to make things what you seem to think would be better.

I beg your pardon. The kids on the bench don't complain that they didn't get to play? don't feel neglected? disappointed? and may I go on. You mean you need a degree to play all the good ones? Its people like you that make it impossible for change here in Steele. You must be on the board or something. For one I am telling people like you that don't give a darn about things that are hurting these kids. Oh, you really believe these kids are happy, sitting on the bench during the whole game, make them happy? Sir, I am an adult and I don't buy it for one minute. They will play eventully! Want an attitude coming from an adult. They should play now. With all the losses they had last year, the coach wouldn't have lost nothing by playing the kids who warmed the benches. Apparently, these things don't bother you. I think you are the one thats off course. If you work in any of the areas that you mentioned, you should be the first removed, but you know it would take the FBI and the CIA and probably out of town police to clean up what goes on in this town. I don't have small kids, but I sure am not blind. You know it takes more than one person to get in here and do something. Would you like to join in, bulldog? Didn't think so !Please cry me a river about low pay. I have a suggestion. Make the "talented" kids sit the bench every game for an entire season and see how much they enjoy it! It will build their character. Let them and their parents see what it is like to sit the bench and never get to play. Let them work hard during all of the practices and still sit the bench every game and make sure they know that they will not be playing all season no matter how hard they play in practice.

I beg your pardon. Sports is about completion. I played sports and sat on the bench a lot before I got to play. I didn't expect anything to be given to me just because I showed up. I worked to get better so I would get to play. The players who aren't getting to play are freshmen. They have 3 more seasons to play. I think all of them would like to play more but understand that sometimes you have to wait your turn. There is also summer baseball where they play junior varsity ball where everyone gets to play.Maybe you should try teaching or coaching for a while and see how many hours they put in before you start telling them how to do their job. By the way do you have a job. Maybe we can give you advice on how to do your job.

Simple solution. If all freshman have to sit the bench all season because they are freshman, the smart thing to do is wait until they are sophmores, juniors and senior to play. That would save alot of bench warming.

Okay you have convinced me. Put the best players on the bench and let the worst players play. Lets take it even further. Lets give all the C and D students A's cause they go to school just as much as the A students. Also I guess you could teach those A students and their parents a lesson my giving them D's for a year.If you aren't happy with the coach instead of complaining on topics maybe you should talk to him and see if there is a reason he isn't playing.

I am not complaining about Jason. He is simply doing what most other coaches do. I am saying that the system is not presently, even remotely trying to help kids learn to play sports. It is suppose to be a learning experience and helpful to all kids who want to play sports. As far as I can tell the coaches, not just Jason, expect the kids to come to practice already trained to play. They simply want to play a game and win. WINNING is the only objective of the coaches and parent, or most of them. They don't even attempt to teach them how to play. I don't think the "talented" kids would mind if the "less talented" kids were allowed to play as much as they do or better yet, the "less talented" kids get to play at all. I think this is an adult problem. The adults including the coaches and parents are the ones that keep the "less talented" kids from learning and achieving in sports. They act like it is major league sports in Steele.

You don't even want to start in on grades! You know as well as I do that if a kid makes C's and D's and is an excellent sports player, they are "helped" wink wink, with their grades so that their grades are up to what they are required to be in order to play sports.

I for one, wish I could thank you in person!!!! I have been screaming about the way things are done for years! Also, the thread about bullying, may I say, you are spot on! Thank you very much for opening your mouth, and saying out loud what a lot of us are thinking. I appreciate you and Thank you very very much. Oh, and Bulldog, no, those kids don't like sitting the bench, especially if they are working just as hard as the others. It's ridiculous to even think that way. I know, I have a kid that hates sitting the bench, and asks constantly why since he works hard to do exactly what he is told. To try and prove he is as good as the others and never gets to show what he has to offer or any improvements. It is disheartening and it breaks these kids down. Especially when they get told they won't get to play because the coach doesn't have time to work with them. Oh, and Summer ball? That is a joke. I personally know some parents that paid the fee, kid went to practice, and the parents were told the kid would be benched and it was all about winning games. The coach told the parents this. Waste of money for the parents and a big let down for that kid!

After many years of ball games of all types I have come to this conclusion. If the parents were not allowed at ball games the kids would enjoy it more.I have seen parents bitch and gripe and then their kids turn into a mirror of them and start to bitch and gripe. Then the kid quites the team and loses a great experience of his or her life.Kids enjoy life a lot more went controlling parents let go and kids play ball. Here is another fact. Some kids are great ball players and some are not. Those that are not have something their great at also. So if these kids enjoy playing ball let them enjoy it. Stop destroying their youth by whining.

Well, I personally seen some of these talented kids bullie the kids less talented with parents present. Where did these kids get this from?? I would fear to leave a child unparented. Yes, those kids that are not talented as others may be great at other things, but how are you ever going to find out what they are good at, if they sit the bench all the time.A parent should be there to support their children. Children want their parents to be proud of them. This is why I have said building character is the most important thing to instill in young people. There is no doubt times are changing for the worst and I can assure you that the change that is taking place is not an example for our children. Its up to us to take special care of these kids, and teach them in a way God would have us to do. Whether it baseball, football, track events, home or whereever. Sometimes we can be right, but wrong, in the way we handle the situation. Yes it okay to want to win, but its wrong when we have kids going home feeling down in spirit because they didn't get to play, to help win.The answer is simple and will alleviate a lot of the parents complaining. Be ( fair )to all kids. A coach can be fair if he wants to.I would respect him more.As a coach, if theres a child that shows no potenial then I would suggest that the coach talk to this child with his parents and help them to see that maybe basketball or some other sport might be more suited for him. Much better then letting him sit on the bench hoping which is usually for nothing. You can't seperate the child from the parent, and I know parents get off the wall at times, but my concern is the child and fairness.

Glad you got what you got from hard work but yet you can set and say some of these kids are only getting what they get because they are pseudo elite? I for one think it all has to do with talent. You either have it or not. All this some kids might be good but the coach won't give them a chance, what do you think practice is for? He figures it all out at practice who has the talent and who doesn't. What is he suppose to do if practice after practice a kid doesn't show the talent or even improve alittle?? He is hired to coach and WIN ballgames. What are the parents going to say if he benches his best players and then lets the others get out on the court or field and it ends up something like 100 to 20 will that make their parents feel better???????? or the kids??????

It shouldn't be about the score of the game. It should be about teaching EVERY child that participates, how to play the game. Every game. No matter what their talent is. If the child wants to play a sport in school, they should be able to do so regardless of how talented they are. If the coach doesn't think a child has improved fast enough to play, the COACH should try harder to teach the child. The coach would be the one who failed. Expecting children to come to practice already skilled in the sport is ridiculous. That is what the coach is hired to do. Teach EVERY child how to play the sport. They are not all going to be equally skilled but they all can play the game and they all should be allowed to play the game, EVERY TIME.

No, no, oh lackey of the steele dung beetle clan (guest from steele).#1 - I am not on any drugs. Ah, there are some things better left unsaid and it doesn't deal with the low-life (non-elite) end of the social status spectrum of our community; point being, some secrets aren't secret.#2 - how many times do people have to tell you pseudo elite's, it is NOT about talented vs non-talented kids! It’s about letting kids play sports, etc without it being a “country club thing” that only people of the pseudo-elite clan can be members of. Are you that freakin’ delusional? Do you really believe you are so high and mighty? Tell you what, you are ONLY legends in YOUR OWN MINDS … I mean, this is steele MO. And then,“coach MUST win” blah, blah, blah … thus, make an excuse, to throw aside lower-class, and/or non-aryan, and/or working class scum of the earth …WTF> . Hey, here’s an idea, make a country club for yourselves [oh, sorry, maybe you Don’t have that much money]. Hell, put razor sharp barb wire on top too. Yeah, keep those obnoxious commoners outta there … low-lifes, who are not even worthy to shine your jackboots.
