I used to bank there, and my family before me. It was a great bank ran by nice people. In those days people kept their word and if your word was good, you could get a small loan almost on a handshake. Eveyone knew eveyone else and the family they came from. I'll bet there were very few loans that were not repaid.

Mr. DeBakey had a store on one side of the bank and Mr. Beginhimer had a drug store on the other side. The sidewalk in front of Mr DeBaky's store is still there.

The bank building is now the Post Office now.

Okay M, you aren't that old, but I'm going to challenge you. When you pass the old school and roll up to the 4 way stop and look over to your left there was Clyde's service station, the old post office and the Landrum's house. Across from the Landrum's, who had the old grocery store that was like a 2 story old white building? Later, they used to hold Boy Scout meetings there.

Mrs. Mays had the grocery store and there was a storage building connected to the grocery store that D.W. Cranford stored things in.

The Boy Scouts held their meetings in the white stucco building(two buildings south of the grocery store) that was once used as a doctor's office.

The big metal building in between these two buildings was everything from a grocery store to a pool hall in those days. It is now a place to eat.

A question for you...
About 2 houses south from the old Boy Scout building there was another grocery store. Who was the last ones to run it and who was the first to open it years ago??

I know where Mrs. Mays's store was, had many 5 cent grab bags of stale candy from there. For some reason I thought the white stucco building at one time was a grocery store. As for the one further south I think it was originally Skinner's, but don't remember the last owner.
Litle E's Mother didn't have a brother.
Speaking of grocery store's do you remember Sherrill's next door to Bingenheimer's drug store?

You are right, it was Bert Skinner. The last family that ran that store was Charles Darnell and family. The tornado of 2006 destroyed almost all of these buildings we have mentioned here.
I remember Sherril's store but I was very young then.
I can't remember who Little E's mother is but I knew her grandparents.

More memories??

Well, I can still remember it burning and I was in 4th grade (Miss Minnie Monan's class) and I think it was 1953. If you are who I think you are you would have been in 6th grade.

Aww,,ya got me..LOL

I was in the 6th grade. Mrs LaFerney was my teacher..I was the cut-up in my class and instead of paddling me she would make me sit on her lap..That was very ebarassing for a boy and all the other classmates would tease me for days..

That Gym sure burned fast..

You must have been in the same class as my brother whos first name starts with J.
