What difference does it make if you have 10 kids being state certified or having 10 kids and not being?
That's exactly what I said. Why should a license say you can have as many or more kids than someone without a license. Whoever came up with that either didn't have brains or had no kids.

Those daycares that are licensed have been inspected by state fire marshals, by state health inspectors, the daycare has been inspected for lead hazards, the menu they serve the children must be approved by state inspectors, the provider has had hours and hours of training concerning sanitation and child safety. Can the unlicensed facilities provide as much?

Probably just as much from what I have seen. Sometimes hands on training serves a much better atmosphere and just as safe than all the training a person can have. I am very familiar with daycare license procedures and probably know just as much about them as you do. Daycare license also say that you can not physically punish a child, but it happens.

Who losttheir license or was made to shut down. Whoever it was did not deserve it if theyere taking good care of the kids. When my kids were in daycare, I could have cared less about a piece of paper. The best daycare they were ever in was a woman that kept 10 kids and they all loved her.

I love my babysitter! I don't care how many kids she watches, my son loves her. This was started by somone jealous! If your kids don't go there, then thy are none of your business!

I'm wondering if those that are licensed have to pay for them? I know that other state licenses (that have to be renewed yearly or every two years) seem like just a way for the state to make money.

I used to use an unlicensed daycare and she was just great. It's all about who takes fantastic care of your kids. This sounds like meanness to me.

I pray for the person who reported these daycares, the person who did it should be ashamed. I feel if the parents dont have a problem then stay out of others business!! Now there are several parents without day care!! And kids who were happy now have to get adjusted to another person! A person who trully cares about kids would never do this to a child!! One of the daycares got a letter that its turned over to prosecuting attorney, there are more important things going on than having two to many kids!! So im praying for all involved. Hopefully charges wont be filed.

There are reasons for daycare requirements just as there are reasons for our laws, TO PROTECT US. The most important
requirement is that daycares of more that ten must have two or more caregivers. There are many more requirements but that is the
most important one.

Since the state is so strict on those that have state certification, are they also given background checks, fingerprinted, proper immunization, etc.? Just curious since it seems like you know so much.

Im sure that most of the people who say the parent shouldn't take their kids to a daycare with more than 4 has never had to actually look for a daycare. It is impossilble to find anyone around this area to keep kids, and most of us have to work. Therefore, yes they may have more than 4 but if you feel that they are well taken care of then does it matter? People drawing these checks every month have 6 kids and all government assisted, should they also be limited to 4? If they can take care of 6 kids, but not work due to being disabled, shouldn't we worry more about that other than an able bodied working household trusting their judgement as to who keeps their kids?

Yes, don't know about the fingerprinting part but that may be. Also, if any part of their family or friends have had legal problems they are excluded from the daycare property.
