<quoted text>without going back to other posts, i did not know i faulted you for your beliefs - i don't agree with some of it, but do not "fault" you - your politics is another issue - you are so far left, you're about to bump into right - if i said something that disrepected your religious beliefs, it wasn't meant for that purpose - Now, for the other 2 yahoos, gene and trumbil or something like that - i post under red, tiger high, numbs (when my fingers hurt) and probably a few others - if it is from shreveport or monroe, it is probably me - i have an ongoing "relationship" with someone on another topix and sometimes i forget to change names - so shoot me - anyway 61, i am not a "once save, always saved" person - one has to live the life, as taught by christ - we just disagree on the interpretation of the word - i think you think having different opinions about scripture will send one to hell - i think that god leads us in our thoughts and there is more than one definition/answer/theory to certain scripture - all being said, you are still nuts!!!!(<;
I'm not as far left as you might think. I do not approve of same-sex marriage. I also don't personaly approve of abortion - but I would not try to pass legislation to stop either of them.
First of all, even if same-sex marriage is legalized, we all know that in God's eyes, marriage can ONLY BE BETWEEN ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN.
But, we also know, that - even if we legalize both of these issues - we ARE NOT GOING TO STOP PEOPLE FROM ENGAGING IN EITHER OF THEM!
I PERSONALY THINK OUR COUNTRY NEEDS TO PASS SOME LEGISLATION (other than same-sex marriage laws) to insure that people of the same sex (who co-habitate & are in a committed long lasting relationship) to have the same rights to their partner's insurance, social security, inheritance etc.
I've heard of people (of the same sex) who co-habitate (and have been in a decades long committed relationships) then when their partner dies - they have no rights to decide about funeral arrangments etc.
I've also heard of this same thing happening when one of the partners is very ill in the hospital - and his partner's family doesn't even allow the long-time partner to visit the patient.
Now, I definately am against homo-sexuality & same-sex marriage - but the above senerios SOME HOW SEEM VERY WRONG & INHUMANE!
Why can't this country come up with a law which will assure that all same-sex partners (who are very committed to each other & want to share their life in a marriage-like relationship) to be able to go through some kind of ceremony with a license (that is sanctioned by the State & Federal governmet - that will offer these people the same benefits as married couples?
BUT WE SHOULS NOT CALL IT - MARRIAGE!
Maybe we could call it -(LEGAL PARTNER UNION) or something like that.
But to legalize same-sex MARRIAGE cheapens the very defination of marriage (which God sanctioned).
Because, after all, God sanctioned marriage between a MAN & A WOMAN.
But, GOD DID NOT SANCTION MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN & A MAN and...
GOD DID NOT SANCTION MARRIAGE BETWEEN A WOMAN & A WOMAN...
