When Barack Obama was sworn into office this January for his second term, what did you think were the priorities that needed to be addressed the most?
According to a survey conducted by Pew Research, Americans listed their priorities as:
1. Strengthening the economy – 86%
2. Improving job situation – 79%
3. Reducing budget deficit – 72%
4. Defending against terrorism – 71%
5. Making Social Security financially sound – 70%
6. Improving education – 70%
7. Making Medicare financially sound – 65%
8. Reducing health costs – 63%
The lowest priorities listed by Americans were:
17. Dealing with illegal immigration – 39%
18. Strengthening gun laws – 37%
21. Dealing with global warming – 28%
So far this year, what have been Obama’s priorities? Gun laws, immigration and now climate control/global warming. The number one priority on Obama’s agenda in January was gun control. When that failed, he turned to immigration and now he’s turning to global warming and climate control.
He’s done little to strengthen the nation’s economy or reduce the national deficit. The sequestration was a drop in the bucket that had more to do with political posturing than it did reducing the deficit. In fact, the President’s extravagant lifestyle and family vacations are clear indications that he cares nothing about the economy or the national debt.
As for jobs, Obamacare has already been taking its toll on American jobs. Many employers have reduced staff because of the increased costs of mandated benefits. A growing list of employers are making drastic cuts in employees’ hours taking them from 40 hours a week to less than 30 hours so they don’t have to pay them benefits. Still other employers believe that paying the penalty for not providing benefits is cheaper than actually providing the benefits, so thousands of Americans are losing the employer provided health benefits.
Obama listens to and cares about Americans as much as much as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg listens to a genetically obese person. His ears are muffled, his eyes are covered with blinders and his heart is as cold as stone (both Obama and Bloomberg). Is it any wonder that there is a complete disconnect between the White House, Congress and the American people?

If you'd tune off Fox, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity & the rest of the right-wing media, you'd know that THE ECONOMY IS IMPROVING!!! Home prices are up - the stock market is still soaring & consumer confidence is stronger than it's been in five years!
You will never know what's REALLY HAPPENING in this country as long as you ONLY depend on the right-wing media as your source of information...

Yes keep voting the party thats brought you every depression or recession. Vote the party that drove inflation to record numbers. Vote the party that brought you the first trillion dollar deficit. Vote the party that wants to control the women in this country. Vote the party that holds racial views of blacks and hispanics. Vote the party that preaches they are of Christian morals but all the while having extra marital and homosexual affairs. Vote the party that feeds to wealthy and devises plans to send jobs out of the country. Vote the party that has lead this nation to worst economic times it has seen. Thats right, vote Republican if you want a bunch of cronys who are out for themselves and use the ignorant in this country and keeping them from thinking for themselves.
Comrade said he is against "cronisim" but defends George W Bush....LOL
Little boy needs to keep up with his lies.

All the home prices and stock market is related to inflation cause money is cheap let the interest rates go up then see what happens people are only paying 2 percent on a 30 year note. Let's see what happens when they have to pay 6 percent. Crash crash crash.

This performance of the stock market has a big effect in the over-all mood & consumer confidence of the American people - which in turn, spurs - spending money to buy houses, cars, clothing, furniture, etc. etc. etc. etc.- which in turn makes it necessary to create more jobs in order to manufacture/provide all the goods & services people need.
THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

" in order to manufacture/provide all the goods & services people need."
I thought China did all that
#11 Jun 26, 2013
No, China does a lot manufacturing & sells it in America - but there's still manufacturing in this country. Over the last year or so - quite a few manufacturing companies have MOVED BACK to this country. Oh, and the American auto industry is booming!
And please tell me HOW SERVICES (medical care, barbers, beauticians, police, firemen, dental care, all kinds of repair services etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.) can be EVER be performed in CHINA???
Of course, you'd never know all this if you only watched/listened to Fox, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity & the rest of the right-wing propaganda machine - which includes right-wing web-sites)...

You forgot to mention that the jobs created will all be 28 hour(or less) work weeks thanks to his idiotic health care bill. By the way, how many houses, cars, cloths, furniture, etc. can someone making a thousand dollars a month buy? Consumer confidence, confidence in government, lowest since 1930. He is out and about
talking clean air, the environment etc. etc. because he sure doesn't want to talk about the out of control IRS, illegal wiretaps, etc. etc. etc. etc.

The so-called health of the stock market does very little in consumer confidence. With very little improvement in the job market, rising prices in goods and energy, I really don't think most Americans will take stock...pardon the pun...in the health of the stock market, mainly because it doesn't effect their daily lives.
Basically, no to be in inclusive, but in a nut shell, the stock market is only doing as good as it is doing because of the fiscal policies of the Fed. With the all the quatitative easings (printing money) and articifically keeping the interest rates low, it's only a matter of time that the laws of economics catch up with this. There is a wide belief that the policies of the Fed caused the Great Depression which was spwaned by the stock market crash of 1929. If you look at some of the events that occured during that time that, you see that a lot of the same monetary policies are being repeated: availability of funds at low interest rates, housing bubble, etc.(just to name a couple)
