Over the last year I built and have moved into a new home at DV Regency. It is a spectacular place (this is the 55 plus side of the house). Toll is like other businesses and if you are investing a half million plus, you need to take it seriously and manage your project appropriately. I found Toll good, if not easy, to work with. There were certainly frustrations, but they were ethical and up front. Understand their process is confusing at time and we kept a better project management book than they did. I am very satisfied with the quality and the service. The community is great, if living in a golf community is what you are looking for. My new home appraised for substantially more than what I paid for it -- in this down market.

If you are thinking you can build a home and not visit the site at least weekly -- they will let you do that -- but you will get a much better product if you manage the effort with the degree of care an investment of this size requires.

I have nothing but good things to say about Toll, but the differences and the issues you resolve early and during the process will not have to be resolved after you move in.

I carefully examined over 100 comparable properties, before making my decision to build with Toll. I also visited three of their other properties, including one in Arizona and talked to a lot of owners. Toll is a public company and all of their finances and annual statements are available and should be read before you make your decision. You should also do a thorough vetting of the HOA in any development of this sort before you commit. Having done all of that -- I'm very satisfied with the result we got from Toll in Dominion Valley.

Wow! Now I'm a wreck! I just sold my home and planning on buying in Dominion Valley. Am I better off with a re-sale and get a home inspector? I worked for builders for 25 years and I have seen some bad things. I have seen good things as well. I don't want head aches. Please advise....

You should get a home inspector whether you buy resale, or build on your home (with any builder).

Having said that, we've had no issues with our home in DV

I bought a home here in Dominion Valley 5 months ago which was built in 2006 and the only complaint I have is with the portico over the front door having a small leak which I fixed being that I'm a roofing contractor. Overall, the house is build excellent and I have absolutely no complaints!!

Obviously Jeff has changed his name to poke fun, for the last five minutes, I have been thoroughly entertained. I'll admit it, you have some Original material. Toll has issues, and they have hurt a lot of people. But for every one complaint, they have ten happy endings. The happy enders, aren't the one's blogging and complaining about Toll's treatment, so it's easy to be one sided. C'mon Truth, don't be so gullible. The VP and the Goons are seriously pulling your chain, and your buy it.

I would seriously reconsider if you plan on buying in DV. Although nice neighbors but the homes are put together in such a hurry eventually things start breaking as soon as we moved in.The other night our entire mantel just fell off the wall and we did not have but a few candlesticks and and a vase sitting on top!! All the plumbing under the sinks have leaked, our refrigerator went out the first week and our A/C unit froze up which caused our electric bill to go sky high. Please think again.
