Any word from anyone on when Parks at Piedmont plans on finishing what they started? Paving? Street Lights? etc...

Considering that Engle's parent company went backrupt earlier in the year I doubt those concrete slabs are going to be completed anytime soon...which probably means that they streets won't get their final layer of asphalt anytime soon either.

Well the paving is done- but the street lights arent on!! Actually, the ones by my house in Dartmoor park are missing covers on the poles. They have sat so long untouched that they have fallen off :( I wish they would come on soon- it would make me feel safer at night walking my dog!!

The paving isn't done on my road and they haven't even put in the street light in on our road.

Extremely frustrating.

So here is what came out of the last few association meetings as far as this all goes.
1. Since Engle has gone bankrupt they are no longer obligated to take care of any warrenty stuff with your home. However they have been taking issues as they come and working on them.
2. The roads are on bond with the county. Either Engle has to finish them (they have until 2012) or the county will step in and use the bonds to complete them.
3. Not sure were the lighting is at this moment. Some fixtures still need to be installed however power company has been contacting people to get stuff started.
4. Those unfinished condos may never be done until someone else buys them or Engle has the money to finish them. Right now Engle nor the housing market make is possible for Engle to start construction. If Engle decides to sell the buyers would be held to the same zoning and building constraints as Engle. For right now they are Engle's assests.
Also if you haven't noticed there are a ton of houses and condos that have been forclosed on. Because of this both the Parks at Piedmont HOA and Condo Association are having money problems (people aren't paying association fees). Therefore we may not be seeing a whole lot of improvement this year. They are doing everything they can to get the money but at some point you have to stop wasting money in legal fees and start figuring something else out.

I live in the condos, close to the unfinished portion, by the lake.

If it takes until 2012 to get these final homes built, I think I'm going to lose it.

What about the people that've put money down on them? Is that money lost? Are they just waiting? What a cluster.

We came very close to signing on one of the unfinished condos back in April, with a delivery date of summer. Thank God we walked away and purchased elsewhere...

I can live with the Condos not being completed but someone really needs to pave the roads and get street lights up. It is PITCH black in the condo community once the sun goes down which can be very dangerous. I live in the condo's, and don't get me wrong I love my house and all of our neighbors - I believe we have the largest condos in Gainesville as of now? but I just wish they would finish some of the smaller projects they have started

the condos in parks at piedmont are almost 1800 sq feet and they aren't "stacked" which is why we bought there. We didnt like the idea of someone being above us or below us...plus access to the golfcourse and country club is a plus too :-)

Welll there are various other "stacked" townhouses in the area that are "almost" 1800sqft as well. The floorplans at Piedmont were cool...but that doesn't change the fact that if I had bought there I would have been completely screwed by that shady builder. I'd be the proud owner of a wonderful concrete slab and lost 8 months of my time.

I have to agree with you on that...we luckily bought from a seller and pretty much have a fully upgraded home for the same price that engle is selling the base model for. We're happy though, we do like the floor plan a lot better on our condos then the others that we were looking at. But your right, the people that purchased the homes "to be built" are in a bad situation...they definately missed the promised delivery date on those....

Does anyone have any details about the hostage situation that occurred early AM 11/09/08 in Parks of Piedmont? One of my neighbors said the SWAT team was on-site and that shots were fired.

The guy that lived there apparently fired a gun into the air, and was resisting arrest. My cousin lives on that side, and she said that swat and cops were all crouched down ready with their guns.
