may be time to take a look at the group running the security and see who and what they are letting into the community. strange that the security company head lives in the community. sounds like a little self-fulfilling need here. rumor has it the justification is in the folks they let in.

I agree! How about the HOA management company actually watch whatever the cameras are recording at the gates. It would be nice if both actually did some work that was beneficial to the residents.

The communities such as Lake Manassas, DVCC and Piedmont offer a false sense of security with those little gates they way they are currently operated. But realistically, how much security do you expect? If you want a high tech, tight security, expect to pay for it with very high HOA fees and loss of convenience (IE, even home owners should be checked as just about anyone could conceivably get a hold of a gate clicker).

And of course, the tightest security isn't going to prevent the deranged home owner who suddenly loses a few screws and decides he's going to shoot his wife / police.

I know that they have been letting people in that have vandalized cars, broken into houses/cars and a bunch of other stuff... I think they can be pretty irresponsible.

and why do you feel so safe?? The criminal will get in - all they have to do is walk in, not every criminal owns a car.

And what about the youth in the community?? They will cause as much, if not more vandilism that the out of towners.
