Actually who am I a traitor to? A Sheriff who didn't give a rat's ass About the little people.
While I have a fine life, and have everything I need, the economy has gotten rough. Some people are just holding on to the pot they have to p*ss in. those are the people YOUR Joe didn't give two hoots about. That's because they barely have a pot, and can't DO Joe any favors. They and others (like me) were expected to get on our knees, and lick the Sheriffs boots, for the honor of being treated like peasants.
Being low income doesn't make anyone less of a human being, or less of a citizen than someone who is doing just fine financially Or happen to be a "LOCAL" (who rules). That's all they (and people like me) are asking for. We don't require special treatment from law enforcement.
If the law can't kiss everyone's ass, then they shouldn't be expected to kiss anyone's.

case in point: that was not joe shook's fault that you don';t have a pee pot. He has been very gracious and will be the gentleman he is while turning over leadership of the sheriff's office to mr. davis.

Evidently you must be one of those people that has needed the sheriff's office for some reason or other and that is fine. That is what they are there for. I finished crying over my wasted vote yesterday around 8:30pm when I found out Vic won. I learn from my lessons. Vic may not be THE best sheriff around, but he will be world's better than Shook ever was!

What I wanted was for him to do his job and what he promised to do. Making Clay County the "butt" of all the jokes wasn't one of them. The ONLY thing he ever boasts about is how he "thinks" he got rid of all the drugs in the county and how he "knows" them all by name (well of course he does, duh!) Whats funny is the first place that he should have focused on was the school and if you talked to any of the kids in school and as 3 of the 5 students questioned by the paper stated that they were scared the most by having to deal with peer pressure and drugs. Hmmmmmm..... FROM THE MOUTH OF BABES! I speak with all ages of children from Clay County school and that is a big concern for them. More kids than I can count said they had seen drugs or been confronted and there were many from the middle school. How sad is it that YOUR sheriff couldn't even protect our children. Oh wait, that's right, he was too busy bringing having to apologize for bringing his crew beer and pizza while on duty and building his new 1.2 million dollar office to worry about the children of Clay County. But you know what else? Come Dec. 6, it won't matter anymore because there's a new sheriff in town. Hopefully he will get rid of all the riff raff and get some honest, hard working, moral employees who care about the people in their community and not their own personal agendas working for him. Oh there are some there now who are honorable, but then there are those who couldn't spell honorable, honest, hard working and moral if their lives depended on it. I am sure Joe will be a man about turning things over, he has no other choice. Joe is many things, but isn't a cry baby. He'll just make it his lifes goal, when he isn't fishin', to try and ruin this community for not re-electing him. Don't kid yourself, he didn't care about you or half the people of this community unless they fit his personal agenda. It's what you could do for him, NOT what he could do for the community.

If you know so much, you would know that there are 2 resource officers at school every school day, they have done an extrodinary job. they can't just walk up to kids and lay their hands on them and search them for drugs....there is a thing called probable cause. If you are so smart, and care so much for our children, why didn't you inform them of what you are accusing joe shook of not doing...my goodness, he couldn't be everywhere at the same time! that is what some of you have expected out of him! as far as the new sheriff's office goes, that was not a decision made by the sheriff. that entire crinimal justice center has been in the works for more than 20 years. I do know that for a fact. You are fixin' to find out what a mistake you have made.

Isn't there like 3 or 4 family members now that work together? I could be wrong, but I think that Scott Penland's sister in law is the secretary and his brother and son in law are now on the school board correct? Honestly not 100% sure on that, but that is what I have heard. Oh well, whats done is done and we can only pray that the new school decision can get overturned. I certainly, again, was not for an 8 million courthouse. I believe things could have ben done a heck of a lot cheaper. A NEW jail was needed though and I like that it is connected to the courthouse. Alot of things could have been updated. Maybe the old courthouse could have been the Sheriff's office or a library. ALOT of the offices in the new courthouse are unused most times and briefly are used for conferences on occasions. Anyway, that is the past. We have our future to secure. Just pray the new comers make needed changes and wise decisions for the community.

I don't know where you get your information, but Scott Penland doesn't have a sister-in-law. He doesn't have a brother, and he doesn't have a son--in-law. I know this for a fact, because my son grew up with his son and I know them quite well.

You are exactly right, elvis. Scott Penland has one sister. and she doesn't have anything to do with the school. He also doesn't have any daughters, so he doesn't have a son in law. Mr. Penland has worked hard to keep clay county schools in the top rankings in the state, and has been successful at this task.
