Every time someone runs for commissioner they say they want to bring industry to Clay Co. and create jobs, is this not why we elect them? Now the commissioners are making a position(Economic Development Director) at a cost of 64,000.00 for someone else to do the job for them.
County employees are getting a 3 percent cost of living raise because they have not had one in 4 years, yet Hayesville school system is losing positions (state employees)because the state budget is in such bad shape. State employees have not had a raise in going on 6 years. Yet then again I guess we need to raise taxes on Clay County citizens to pay for a new Court House and Jail and EMS base,911 center Clay County Transportation Dept. Sheriff's Office and Social Services Dept. We also have to keep up all the of the county owned buildings all thease departments moved out of. I guess next we will need a new Health Dept. Just what does Clay County have to offer to a company to try and get them to start or move to Clay County anyway? Welcome to Clay County!!! and higher taxes!!!!

What a bunch of dumbos we have for commish. Spending like a drunken sailor, raising taxes for their own to get a pay raise, while everyone else is working for less money these days!! They go out and build a fine new courthouse, new jail, new sheriff's office and now new social services building. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I believe a school for the children should take proirity over all of the above!!

Can we have a recall election??

the commissioners must think this is cutting government when they take the work from themselves and start paying someone else to do the job at the taxpayers expense. Who needs an EDD anyway, what's here to develop,if the guy had an idea to bring jobs in they would not let it be presented . I almost bet if it was looked into he's probably a close relative to someone in office .

Have you EVER sent him an e-mail addressing your accusations and issues?

One of the things bureaucrats hate with a passion is to receive something from a citizen in writing - because they can't deny you complained.

IF y’all ever expect to change government (or if you just want to piss them off), you’ll have to start thinking like a reporter and gather hard date/information – and hang the dirty laundry you come up with out on the line for all to see and read about.
