Five to fifteen thousand to clean up that mess, and if the property owner doesn't pay it, then the residents of the county are on the hook. What homeowner has a spare 15 grand lying around to clean up a meth lab?!

This guy should be made to work on behalf of the county to provide some sort of restitution to the county.

Community Service should be alot longer than it has been historically, and it should involve alot more than picking up trash along the side of the road for a few Saturdays now and then.

What do you say, Gloucester Citizens? What are some ideas for meaningful community service work?

For first offenders trash is probably one of the most effective tasks to teach a lesson if you place them with the right drill Sargent. I actually had one threaten to call the Sheriff on me because I made them separate recyclables. As for repeat and serious drug offenders, there's no place like the big house. They have no business in or around the public. For example, delivering meals on wheels gives potential criminals perfect opportunity to case dwellings of the elderly and their neighbors. From an ex juvenile delinquent, the potential to rehabilitate offenders is contingent upon the gullibility of those who believe it can be accomplished. I was fortunate enough to have a solid moral upbringing and intelligent enough to understand the long term ramifications of my behavior. Though I'm sure the rebellious few remain, times change and people do as well. What I have seen of the up and coming generation is most frightening and lacking in the smallest hint of accountability.

We are going to be seeing many more big drug busts in the near future.

I hope you're right. As a Grandmother it's alarming to see the increase in drug related crime in our community. We are running out of safe places to live in this state and this country. Enough is enough.

Will they be based on a little girl making a call and filing a false report? Hmmm?
