Someone posted a long thread on here but I guess CEC had it taken down. It was about the manager and the rates being high. I would like to know more. Is your bill high too? What do we do about this? Comment please.

I can't get calls returned. Emails get answered after a week. I don't know what is goingon up there but someone needs to answer some real questions.

Call an electrician and have them check your wiring connectors running from the pole to the house. I had a bad connection in my ground wire that came from the pole to the house and it was fixed by the electric company <TXU, and it cut down on my electricity use. You may have a bad connector on your ground wire that has loosened up on the wire.

Check out the Facebook page Choctaw Electric Customers for Fair Pricing. This page has already gotten some results about cutoffs and they are pressuring the management to answer questions. Join it and add to the numbers.

President said when first elected that electric was going sky high due to coal plants being shut down by him. He said he would shut them down. Why is anyone surprised about this?

In no way is it the fault of Choctaw Electric.

The government has a little-known agency called the U.S. Energy Information Administration. It's a little tricky to do serious study on, but if you check carefully, you will find that CEC has residential rates 47 percent above PSO's, industrial rates BELOW PSO's, and some of the highest rates in Oklahoma among co-ops.

I checked and they don't fall under any laws regarding rates. There is a group on facebook called Choctaw Electric Customers For Far Pricing. Check them out. They are trying to get the co-op to lower rates where they can get rid of some employees who have political jobs or jobs that could be combined and stop wasting so much money. Still trying to learn more about the people who have the right of way clearing contract and if they are paying kickbacks to the management. Anyone know?

All blame should be placed on the president, he and all his liberal partners in crime are waging war on the coal industry which is where we get our electricity. Before big o was elected he said under his leadership energy rates would sky rocket, his words. For those who elected him, now enjoy.

The reason of the high rates is mid management. A board fooled by a political flake and out of control spending. Look at Mr. Matlocks business past and his families. Lots of unpaid debts and bankruptcy. To many employees with nothing to do. Too many company cars and too many vacations on the customers nickel. Its time for a change.

I hear that every time a cloud comes up and the wind blows it scares Choctaw electric electricity so bad it shuts off automatically and I hear that is quite often. And that the electricity even gets bad sun burns and heat strokes when summer time gets here.

I have had three energy audits completed and still have a higher than normal bill. I have converted all lights to the energy efficient bulbs. I keep my ac on a warmer level so it doesn't run so much. My family dresses warmer in the winter so we don't run our heat so much. My house is newer with good insulation, energy efficient windows which are covered to keep out heat. My parents live in an older home about the same size as mine and don't follow any of the practices that my family does for being more efficient. I am on Choctaw they are on PSO. Consistently, there bill is half of mine. Insane.

What, have your ground wire on Choctaw electric side coming into your house. It may have a lose connection where it is connected by a wiring clamp may be lose causing a lose connection . And also may cause your lights to flicker or go out.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have had my house checked electrically by two electricians. Everything is sound.

Obviously, Choctaw Electric needs some new leadership. The current CEO has his job as a political plum. Ask round and you will find some interesting records concerning the only job he ever had off of the public payroll. He and his brother had a manufactured housing dealership in Idabel. It went broke. They filed for bankruptcy even though an Indian tribe paid them for two trailers that were never even delivered. Its all online. Now this man his business sense is in charge of the co-op with no real oversight from his board. No wonder rates are so high. The employees at CEC are very happy with him. They get bonuses each year but it is the customers who pay for it. Like any politician, he excels at spending money. New leadership will fix a lot of the problems but unless those problems are known, nothing will change.

There is a consumer Facebook page. Look it up and get involved.

Learn to conserve.
Take less showers.
Eat less food.
Break things down.

I run my a/c all day and all night long.
I use one refrigerator.

Electric has never reached $50.00 yet, in almost 2 years. I'm on PSO outside of Valliant area.

My water bill is consistently around $30.00 per month.

I don't understand how you are all getting these kinds of bills. I couldn't purposely make my water and electric bill go up that high. Something is wrong with your services.

All of my utility bills (storage, gas, electric, water) run about $125.00 a month like clockwork.

I do not know how a walmart employee can even afford to have the lights on at the rate Choctaw Electric charges.

They can't pay their electric bills! I paid my daughters last week. I called the office here in Hugo and apparently most of the people there only work four days a week and are off ever Friday. It makes me sick. I looked at the Facebook page and it is just a bunch of people griping. They aren't DOING anything or talking to the right people. It is useless to try and talk to the people in the office. I see my board member in town sometimes and hope to talk to him. I don't think any of them realize how out of balance the rates are. If they get scared of losing THEIR jobs, maybe they might relieve some people of the political jobs and find a CEO who understands business and can lower rates

fLYFART, JUST DO A LITTLE CHECKING--Choctaw eLECTRIC FALLS UNDER NO LAWS OR REGULATIONSas they are suppose to be a non profit under the laws of Oklahoma. No regulations on rates they charge, so they can charge anyone what ever they so choose if the info I checked on is correct. The only way to get a change in prices is to change the committee that oversees the company is to vote those out of office and put someone new in there place. And I thought I had high electric rates till I heard of Choctaw electric. PSo is much cheaper in its rates charged.
