''No pedestrian,'' the Vehicle Code states,''shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute a hazard,'' even at crosswalks.

The recent ticketing by Bethlehem police of motorists who do not yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk has caused another problem. Pedestrians, especially on Main Street, step off the curb and saunter in front of moving traffic. If a motorist makes a mistake they could be DEAD RIGHT.

Common sense has to come into play here. Safety is the prime issue. I would hope that people wouldn't step off the curb in front of a traveling auto believing that the driver will stop. The likely scenario is that the driver might not even see a pedestrian.

People behaving responsibly should be able to co-exist on the streets of our community.

Nothing is more dangerous than a brazen pedestrian who thinks they are 'teaching' the motorist a lesson by forcing them to stop short.

Anyone who steps out in front of a car deserves what they get.

The way this restaurant owner has things posted is the only safe way to handle this.

Somehow PennDOT thinks telling pedestrians to walk in front of a moving vehicle is a "safe" thing to do.

Can you think of ANY other law so stupid ??

Walk in front of any car and make them stop.

I have mothers shoving shopping carts in front of my car to make me stop and there's a litle baby in the cart too.

Smart law.
