Location, location, location. The location of this hospital is not conducive to any volume business. The population base just isn't here. How many times has this hospital changed hands with the business model touted as an association with other medical networks only to fail and be sold to another entity. I have to say everytime my Harvard Pilgrim HMO refers me to a procedure that needs to be done in a hospital environment I am sent to Emerson. There is a better solution but we can't see the forest for the trees.

Obviously Ralph de la Torre doesn't realize Filene's is no longer in business. I guess he doesn't do much shopping. As for the doctors at NVMC wanting to be part of an ACO, forget it. Most want to be in private practice with their own diagnostic equipment in their offices so they can make as much money as possible. These doctors have taken businees away from the hospital for years.Steward needs to look into the long list of physicains who have been investigated and sanctioned by the Board of Medicine on the Nashoba Valley Medical staff.List includes Dr.Ackerman, Dr. Asher, Dr. Borden, Dr. Cerel, Dr. Hack, Dr. Katzenberg. Dr. Monafo and Dr. Maurukas. The care that has been taking place in the Nashoba Valley is appaliing. All this information is public and can be obtained from the Public Information Coordinator at the Massachusetss Board of Registration in Medicine. Good Luck Steward you are going to need it.

Wow, obviously you are an insider. Why do you dislike the hospital. Did you get canned? Or are you a competitor?

I hope that Steward/Caritas will be successful in buying "the Center" as this is the only chance it has of regainng it's once good reputation which it had under Deaconess. It needs a great deal of work not only with the physical plant but also as Natalie says, with the staff and physicians that are associated with it. The majority of the qualtiy care givers felt the need to leave when Essent took over as Essents standard of care was not to the level that these staff members hold themselves. I believe Natalie has it correct and Steve Roach has all the documents to confirm it. My advice to the new owners: Caveat Emptor.

Wow, I would like to know why my heart doctor was cited,as one poster mentioned!!! How do I find this out? I do know why 1 of the other doctors was. He gave out enough pain meds to kill an elephant, to anyone who had a hangnail! It got so bad,I heard my pharmacist say she refused to fill ANY of his prescriptions
