Haverhill eyes laid off Lawrence firefighters

Some of the 23 firefighters laid off in Lawrence last week could land jobs in nearby Haverhill.

If you are just hiring to fill the job with a female just hire a female dog.
She is a female, can sleep in the firehouse all day, just like the other fireman. Won't call in sick, won't go out on a fake disability, and won't ask for more money to come to work sober.

Good luck to all white men trying to find a job, your bottom of the line when it comes to hiring. Whatever happened to hiring the best person for the job? So I can score higher on a test and be the best pick for the job but to fill some crap quota a female would get picked. Unreal.

civil service was created to prevent favortism. Its not perfect but it keeps things fair when done right. I'd be embarrassed if I got a job while scoring lower on a test and because of my skin color. I know women and other minorities who worked hard and earned thier jobs...just like everyone. Thats the way it should be. I can speak for the overwelming majority that the handfulls of Ff/cops ect... that abuse the system in any way are looked down upon by us. We don't want scumbags giving us a bad name. Like any career there are always some that ruin it for everyone. Don't hate on the vast majority that are good people and employees

Yup, hire the women and if they aren't qualified enough, hire the minorities and whatever is left over goes to the white man. Unreal!

How about hiring the one who scored the highest on their exams, the one who is strongest, etc..? Lowell has a few female firefighters...I have never seen one grab a ladder, slap it on the side of a house, run up it and drag a 300lb man out of it. I'm not against women in public safety, but seriously, stick to what you are good at...you know doing nails, cutting hair, sewing, typing....don't feel like you are entitled to every job that man has, jeez what has this world come to.

Do you know how to operate firefighting equipment?
