And Jamey, don't dare mention the fact that Lincoln created a brand new "slave State" right in the middle of the War - West Virginia - because he needed a few more electoral votes to try to win reelection. Facts make yankee's and liberal's heads spin.

Well, you haven't looked too hard in my opinion. I have seen plenty of pictures and documentaries where the KKK & Nazi/Skinheads are shown, but the Confederate battle flag is not evident. Guess which other flag both the KKK and the Skinheads like to fly. That's right, none other than Old Glory, the American flag! Do you find that flag "racist" too?
It is foolish to attribute a human quality such as "racisim" to a symbol or flag merely because some group or another decides to use it. If you decide to label one symbol you must label them all. Should we therefore be offended by the American flag? Afterall, the US flag flew over a nation that allowed slavery for more than 80 years, not to mention flew on all the ships that delivered slaves into this country. The Confederate flag only flew for four years, and did not grace a single slave ship. Hardly seems just to condemn one and applaud the other, don't you think?

I am proud of my heritage and my ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War on the side of the South. It is a shame that the Confederate Battle Flag has been misused and abused by some. It is also hard to believe how little most Americans really know about the Civil War and the abuse the South took during the War and after. Let's see 9 out of every 10 starving, ragged, shoeless Southern soldier didn't even own a slave. You can start there and work back on the very complex issues that lead to the War Between The States.

Someone in the article said that in America you have a right to be wrong. Just what makes you think they're wrong? It just might be that the Sons of Confederate Veterans know a hell of a lot more about the issues involved in the War of Yankee Agression than you do. Oh, and those Yankees that wonder why they moved to the South, I suspect it was to escape the high taxes and restrictive governments of the tyrannical North. But you may have had other reasons. Remember, Delta is ready when you are. But you don't see any southerners moving north do you? There will be seen Confederate flags in the South and in the North on trucks from the South so you better get used to it. Maybe you could move to Detroit! Everybody wants to live in Detroit, Right?

Actually, it does not work out that way. The western counties of Virginia were Unionist and sought to be recognised as the TRUE State representatives of the people of Virginia.

They convened, formed a government, eventually seceded from Virginia to become WEST Virginia. And, the U.S. Congress passed legislation to that effect and lincoln signed it, totally disregarding the Constitution, which by then had become the norm. In fact, in what has become known has his modus operandi, lincoln excused this by saying secession for the U.S. is fully justified.

According to the Constitution Article IV, Section 3, West Virginia is an unConstitutional State. And, as best as I have been able to research it online, the issue has never been resolved. It has, though, been accepted as fait accompli by fiat.

I find it offensive this many people don't know the history of their country. This was never ment to be "One Nation" you should learn about State Sovereignty. So keep saying the pledge to our tyrannical Federal Government, I am sure most of you don't even know the pledge was written by a socialist named Francis Bellamy.

To all of you who moved down here from "Yankeeland",read a copy of "War Crimes Against Southern Civilians" by Walter Brian Cisco(April 2007).It proves with documentation that U.S.Soldiers i.e."Yankees" robbed,gang-raped,tortured and murdered old men, women and children aided and abetted by their officers and Commander-in Chief Abraham Lincoln. The South was Right!!! CASE CLOSED!!!!!

Just like with the Duke lacrosse team, the politically correct are more than willing to slander innocent people. Everything most of us learned in US government schools justified the government's violation of States rights. Study the history of the war on your own. Learn the facts. Then we can talk about it.

Actually, if you can stomach going to a 3k website, they claim the US flag and the Christian flag as their representative flags. I've seen a lot of news coverage through the years of 3k marches and have never once seen a CBF flag among them. There might be a few events where they carried the CBF flag but it's so few that it doesn't matter. Even in Jasper, Texas, when the 3k was there several years ago after that infamous dragging death, there was no CBF. Look at the group, not the flag, otherwise we would all hold the US flag in contempt for the 90-odd years of slavery, Indian genocide, governmental tyranny and political crimes committed under it.
Fly the flags of CSA proudly!

Thanks for the story on the Confederate flag. It gives folk an opportunity to explain how they feel about it. I suppose there are some who fly it in defiance, but to me it is Southern heritage, pure and simple. I have malice toward none, however, I admire my ancestors who fought for their independence. They were only defending their homes.

I'm a proud Confederate American. For me, the Battle Flag stands for resistance against oppression. The South did not betray the Constitution, Lincoln and the Republicans did. We were forced to separate ourselves. In the real world good does not always win over evil, and the defeat of the South is a perfect example. If you don't like our flags, then stay up north where you belong. I don't go up there and tell you what to do.......

Kudos to Bob Hurst and his group for the restoration efforts of such grand flags; just reading about them and imagining them waving proudly makes me swell with Southern pride as a proud Texan and Southerner. These and all flags of the Confederacy represent MY precious Southern heritage and beliefs and that will NEVER change. Folks like this Nazi Randell are imbeciles and can go to H***. God Bless the South.

I had telve relatives of one sort or another fight for the Confederacy and NOT ASINGLE one owned a slave. For the most part they were self-sustaining farmers in rural Virginia. I would like to hear the explanation from an "anti-Confederate" as to why any of these men would have left their wives and children and what little property they owned in the defense of an institution (slavery) which benefitted them NOTHING! It just doen't add up; just like the whitewashed "facts" that are printed in the history texts that deify Lincoln and glorify his tyrranical and anti-Constitutional actions. The "politically correct" version of the war is by far the most egregious lie ever bought into by the citizenry.

All of the above naysayers are speaking purely out of ignorance and bigotry. What the Southern States sought to do in 1860-61, was to establish a new nation based on the Constitution of the United States. How many of you naysayers said the division of the USSR was a bad thing, the division of Czeckoslavakia, Yugoslavia?
The United States was founded as a free nation, a slave nation. For this is the mainest contention you all have against the CSA. The fact is, the Black race had so very few friends in the whole of the USA back then. Most abolitionists, while being against owning humans, neither did they want Blacks living among them. They were very satisfied that the Blacks were in the South. The President of the United States, abraham lincoln, was a White supremacist, reflecting the attitude of appr. 95% of all Americans.
Neither was secession Treason. Most assuredly, the colonials who fought against Great Britain were guilty of treason. While the Southern patriots of 1861-65 were not, because of the 9th & 10th Amendments to the Constitution. Moreover, the following quote from lincoln in 1848 reflects the thinking of most Americans in those days: "Any people, anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, a most sacred right, a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can, may revolutionize, and make their own of so much of the territory as they inhabit. More than this, a majority of any portion of such people may revolutionize, putting down a minority, intermingled with, or near about them, who may oppose their movements." ~ Lincoln January 12 1848.
As you naysayers should be able to plainly see, those of us who know far more on this subject than you, acknowledge the nobility and the honour of their cause and we shall continue to honour their memory much the same way the Sons of the American Revolution, and, the Daughters of the American Revolution, continue to honour the memory of those who founded a nation based upon liberty.
Deo Vindice!!
Dear Jimmy Shirley
I have indeed read your post and agree with all you have had to say.
We southern would like a country founded on the principle, by our founders. Lincoln was a terroist.
We have been under occupation way to long.

Great points! Those that want to learn the truth will be pleased to find out that the Southern culture is a wonderful thing, and there is no greater symbol of the South than the Confederate Battle Flag. I guess reconstruction is not complete. Not all of us that live in the occupied State of Florida forgot that Lincoln violated the Constitution to preserve the tax revenues of the Union.

my family and i fly the conch republic flag. we are from the florida keys. i'm really tired of hearing all the hoopla about the beautiful confederate flag. let them all fly free and beautiful if thats your heritage. i bet if i go to another part of our city here in central florida that i would see some other kind of flag flying high without all the hoopla, mainly because we are not allowed to make a big hoopla about theirs, nor do we. everybody get a life and for god sakes an education, which we are all entitled too. i had to pay for my kids education like alot of other americans in the country. we were not handed it free of charge. we didn't qualify for any kind of assistance, but i'm sure alot of flag horn blowers were given the chance to acquire an education at tax payers expense. i say fly what ever flag you feel proud to fly. that's the good thing about this country since the war between the north and the south. the flag stand for your freedom of speech and every person in this country is free to express their opinions whenever and wherever. if you don't like the confederate flag, don't look at it. i turn my head alot of times to avoid looking at things that offend me and i'v done it my whole life and i'm 55. if this flag offends you so much, to the airport, strip off your clothes, turn in your food stamp, medicaid cards and i will provide the spear, book of matches and a one way ticket back to wherever you are from. i'm sure you will be alot happier out in the bush. but for gods sake get a life and a job!!!!!!!!!!
