"However, when she is sentenced Wednesday, Kane will ask Judge Rey Graulty for a deferral, giving her the opportunity to keep her criminal record clean, her lawyer said. She has one infraction on her driving record, for speeding 17 miles over the limit on April 18."

A DAG in this case is technically allowed but...

The "one" infraction was the time she got caught. And 17 over is significant regardless of the posted limit.

Do I sound holier-than-thou? Try ask the parents and the families and friends of the victims. If they are good with a DAG then God bless them and any other opinions, including mine, are meaningless.

so you speed, lose control of your car, plow into a group of people, kill 2, injure 1 then get sentenced to possibly a year in jail and a fine? no wonder people speed and kill. i'm sorry but this is a miscarriage of justice in my opinion. plus, she's going to ask that her conviction be put on a deferral status. stay clean for some time and voila just like you never did anything bad. auwe!

Hm 2 single car accidents at the same section of the same road on the same day, maybe someone should be indicting the engineer who designed the road, and obviosly unless siginificant changes have already been made the city or county is guilty of gross negligence "failure to mitigate a known hazard". And for those of you who dont already know, standing at the side of ANY road is dangerous, mourn your friends at a park or private home.

If she accidently fell with a gun in her hand and killed 2 people.... If she accidently fell with a knife in her hand and killed 2 people... If she accidently walked into a group of people knocking 2 of them over the Nu'uana Pali killing them..... I guess this is what Lawyers are for. If it happens to you or a loved one this is what you'd want. They should stop calling these things accidents and call them what they are. Colisions. It's easier to convict someone of a colision that cause death of another person than when it's doen accdently. Here is where the lawyers need to convince a Judge or Jury of leniency. 9pardon by poor spelling)

Was she on her cell phone? Was she texting? Was she doing her makeup in the car? What was her excuse? No contest is not accepting responsibility. Let her cool her heels in jail for a year, then take away her license for good. A young woman with 1 speeding tkt, and two deaths already. Lucky she did this in Hawaii, where justice is lacking.

So, your saying, if i am speeding and I have my accident in the same place where other people speeding have had their accidents, then it can't be my fault, it has to be the city and counties fault or the engineers! What a bunch of crap! Don't comment on things that you know nothing about! And those mourners were well off the road. The girl who hit them turned around and drove her car into that group after she had passed them intiially! Get your facts straight before you make any comments like that!
