This is blatant duplicity. This is case of city bureaucrats vs the public. The Hauula Communities have spoken against this. They want to work with the city. The city is shoving it down their throats. We are sick of this kind of bullying. It's got to stop. They think the public is a bunch of idiots. You notice the bureaucrats all use the same phrases over and over again even if they are shady. Condemnation must be the last resort. Clearly the city is not at its last resort. But it thinks it can throw its weight around.

Please read the comments. If the city can bully like this. What about the Honolulu Rail Transit System condemnation? Those of you folks who live on Kamehameha Highway better get ready.

A friend sent this:

The fire department is getting too much special treatment. There is only one small police station in Kahuku. On the other hand, there are eight fire stations from Kaneohe to Wahiawa.

Firemen are known as the best cooks. Is it because they have lots of time in their hands? The police and the emergency medical services are always working their butts off. This is beginning to look very unfair. The police and the EMS need more attention.

More people have heart attacks than fires. Our neighbor's wife died cause they could not get emergency medical services fast. The Kahuku sub-station only get 4 officers on duty. We need more police help for sure. That Hauula fire station never flooded the last two bad floods. The population over here still the same. Put the $10M to smarter use.

FOLLOW THE MONEY. This is not about common sense. Your Councilman supports this 'ideal' site. LOL. Why? Hauula is mad with this. Other councilmembers have questions. Why is Dela Cruz quiet? You need to put 2 and 2 together. He's running for mayor. Your concilmember does not want to represent you poor guys. The contractor's got him. Bite him like a pitbull, make sure the public knows he's useless to little people. No let go.FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Sounds like this is purely the elected officials choice. Not the people of Hauula. We are all tax payers that give our money every year to only have it put into the hands of our elected officials who just do what they or corporate/developer's interest want. Not the people.
Hawaii and the rest of the US needs a complete transformation and reform of they way our elected officials are funded and voted for.
I certainly hope the fire station, council member, Mayor Mufi, and police representative's show up to the Hauula and Ko'olau Loa Neighborhood Board this month before they make any decisions. LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE. They help put you in office and pay your salary. SO DO WHAT YOUR PAID BY THE PEOPLE TO DO!!!!!

Who is getting all this $$$???
$13 million for a Fire Station in rural Hau'ula when they just built McCully-Moilili only cost $5 million!

http://www.hawaiireporter.com/stop-hauula-fir...

Where is the EXTRA $8 million going ? WHO is getting the extra $8 million ???

When the Mayor is cutting basic services, why are we spending so much on a Firehouse that the people of Hau'ula don't want ??
