Mufi's answer is to spend 6 billion of non-existant taxpayer money on a rail system instead of half a billion on a new highway. Brilliant. (not)

able bodied persons should stop whining and get a second or third or fourth job and get on with it instead of expecting government to bail them out

Some of us don't have that luxury, when our schedule is all over the place.

Then who going take care the kids, bring them to school and etc. Some of us don't have tutus and we can't afford baby sitter. Thas why hard.

You need to give some thought to the plight of some people before you respond with idiot remarks. I agree there are some that suck the social services dry, but not all fall in this category. Through no fault of their own, many families need a helping hand at some point in their lives, and a little sympathy from you wouldn't be a bad thing.

The most regressive tax tax in the country, Mufi's "invisible" excise tax that will take thousands and thousands from the people who can least afford it will make it so much worse for everybody here.... everybody except of course the corrupt and greedy people who will profit on the backs of the taxpayers to pay for the ugly Rail Of Little Use. Perhaps the hungry can go down to the union hall and beg for scraps.

Like BTO sang, "You ain't seen nothin' yet". Soon the people of Hawaii will be trapped on an island that will become a virtual war zone. My advice is to get out while you still have a chance. Wait too long and you'll miss out and will be forced to suffer the wrath. Your government has plans for you and trust me they ain't pretty. You can visit the places, aka containment camps, right there in Hawaii that they've prepared to contain the masses. They're staffed and ready now and as soon as social order breaks down they will be fully utilized. Go check them out and you'll see and then you'll know what's in store for you. You've been warned!!!

If you can't afford kids, you shouldn't have them. Stop relying on the US taxpayer to pay your way. Get another job, move out of section 8 housing, sell your flatscreen TV, sell your big SUV, and start buying condoms.

Oh Bob, you are such a liberal. There are so many able bodied section 8'ers on Oahu who knock up their teenage girlfriends and give rise to the on-going generational welfare of the islands. Section 8'ers who have new cars, abuse the system, while responsible members of society have to support the dregs. Hawaii provides quite a high life for the low lifes. There is plenty of extra jobs these people can do and they should stop fornicating when they can't afford the kids.

Your attitude may be different if you or your family members lose their job. There are hardworking people out there who are losing their job everyday because of the slumping economy by no fault of their own. We all suffer because of these job loses.

Many standing in line for free food are not hungry but want to reduce their food bills. Nothing wrong with that but let us not claim they are starving.

Excuses excuses. When I was a kid, even in first grade when I was 6, I walked to the bus stop and got on a bus with absolutely no parental supervision. I did it again after school to get home.

What is killing Hawaii is that we are forced to take in and support the trash from everywhere else. The tb infested micronesians probably now number in the thousands, get first in line for welfare services. Micronesia now runs beautiful ads in travel books since they shipped their unwanteds here and like dummies we care for them.
Seems like every day their number increases.
