Question: Could you find out why the state Department of Transportation allows containers of beer and other alcohol -- some opened and half empty -- at memorial sites put up by family and friends of the deceased? I understand overlooking the traffic hazard caused by the flowers, cards, stuffed animals and other mementos, but open containers are ...

I don't mind the memorial, just as long it isn't an eyesore or disraction to driving. People need to morn and it should be removed by the 30 day period. Having beer on the site isn't a idea.

They allow people to blatantly drink at the scene and possible drive home. Also illegal is drinking on the highway and roadsides which create a dangerous scene!

Dont worry taxpayers we shall pay for their mistakes in a lawsuit one day!

All those beer containers are opened already. If a "minor" wants to drink p-hiss warm skunked Heineken found on the side of the road then they should no longer be allowed to live with the rest of the humans on this planet.

A cemetary is the proper place to mourn and remember the dead. Not the side of a road. I'd like to be remembered in a quiet serene place not where people honk horns, toss their cigarette butts and stuff.

Besides being a distraction, what bothers me is that it seems that after someone dies in a car crash, the mourners know exactly what to do. Set up a memorial. They don't think about what caused the situation. They think that because they did the memorial, all is well. What about the speeding or drunk driving that caused the crash. After mourning, they can be seen racing away from the scene. And what about placing liquor at the site! Pitiful!

Roadside memorials are a common site. Knowing this stupid state they'll either ban it or tax it.
