The 37-year-old Kaaawa man who fell asleep at the wheel and killed someone and gets released the same night? That doesn't make sense.. he just killed someone!!!!!!!!!! He must be related to someone in the police dept. otherwise he'd still be sitting in JAIL...

<quoted text> Plenty drunks out at Makua Cave every weekend night, and the cops do nothing. The most I have ever seen them do is make the younger ones dump their beer on the ground.
...are you getting any?

Nope...he expressed sincere remorse and explained that he had to be to work early.

Huh? the police say ""It's people that's drinking or speeding," Lopez said. "It's too bad there's not much you can do; more police wouldn't matter. People still drink, they still drive, they still speed. You gotta educate people more.""
There's not much they can do?> Sure there is...havent' they heard of sobriety check-points? I guarantee you that if they have sobriety checkpoints every mile for the next 60 days, there will be fewer drink and drivers on that road! It really is *THAT* simple! And don't say that it's too expensive to do that...what's the price of a life? And when you *DO* find someone who is driving under the influence, you don't slap his wrist and let him go on his way...you throw him in jail with a mandatory jail term for first time offenders! This technique works in many other states in the country, I don't see why it won't work in Hawaii!

Confiscate the vehicle the drunk is driving and take it STRAIGHT to the shredder. That way, maybe some desperate woman won't be letting her drunk-lost-his license-so-uses-her-taxpayer-i nsured- hooptie-to-go-drinking-in-welf are-car boyfriend be on the road.

Hawaii drivers are among the worst I've seen in my travels. They love to speed and tail gate. There seems to be a lack of common sense.

I agree with you that all major cities and states have terrible drivers everywhere, BUT Hawaii is one of the worst for appropriate and safe, law abiding driver skills. Doesn't matter what the stats say, it's more dangerous here to drive than other major cities I've lived in around the world.
