Social worker charged with endangerment for sex ad

A Hauppauge social worker has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child for posting a sexually suggestive ad on Craigslist directing callers to her neighbor's home, Suffolk prosecutors said.

Spota is a freaking screwball. If you drink and drive, or as many of Spota's buddies do, then you endanger the lives of children just because they COULD be there.

The woman was charged correctly in the first place. Now Spota wants to get some press.

Most people in the mental health profession are more screwed up than the patients they are counseling. If you were a fly on the wall and take a look at there home lives, you see that there children are unstable too. I hope her license is revoked and she should finanically compensate this child an family for the pain and suffering she caused.

I'm sure there must be a lot to the story we don't know HOWEVER there is NO excuse no matter how mad she was, for her to do this. She needs to be judged harshly and actions like this need strong laws for all ages. Harassment s u c k s no matter what age you are.

As a Social Worker (SW) I am completely disgusted with the actions of this New York SW. Our profession is an absolutely great profession and certainly needed in our world. SW have worked so incredibly hard to prove ourselves as professionals and not individuals that remove children from their homes etc. To have one of our own to completely disregard our Code of Ethics is gut wrenching. She should certainly have her licenses suspended! SW's already have a hard time building a rapport with so many individuals in our communities and this cruel act will only make it harder for our profession (especially in the Child Welfare System). I ask that as people read this article and discuss her actions that they remember that SW is a profession that has a profound and positive affect in/on our communities. The dispute was between children and if she felt that things had gotten out of control between the two she should have gone to the other child's parent. Not take such a malicious act. SW's like me and many other professional SW's work very hard every day with assisting families in our communities by advocating for those who feel that they do not have a voice, advocating for children to be protected from predators and so much more. The areas of expertise that SW are involved in go far and beyond most peoples imagination.

What I would like to know is "hard working professional" what? Certainly not social worker. I know a few social workers and they don't act like that. If her neighbor wants to lure her over here to Columbus and shoot her dead in my presence, I didn't see a thing.
