If you are driving drunk and KILL someone, yes, YOUR LIFE SHOULD BE RUINED. If you were hit by a drunk driver, I would hope that your family takes the same viewpoint and acts like they could care less about your death. It's people like you who are always complaining about the law and never the people who make the choice to break it. I mean, check out your disrespectful is that on this forum?
He killed that girl, it was murder. I bet the whole family are illegal aliens. "Alvino", what is that French? That would explain a lot.

Trust me I feel very bad about this situation maybe you missed some things in between the lines of my comment. But I will be the first in line in hopes that these kids get brought up on manslaughter charges... it is a shame that it hasn't already happened... disgusting I might say. As for the boys they should have and could have told no excuses for them really. The parents should be disgusted with themselves and the action of thier son... for someone who is suppose to bring happiness to families and find new and exciting homes has spit in the face of another family who was hoping for brighter futures for their daughter then what they had coming up. I am not at all saying anything they did was okay not a single one of them.

netto, you are 100 percent right.Steve Wines,Carlee's dad and I have been friends for almost 30 years having gone through an apprenticeship and working together in a N.YC. trade union. His statement to Newsday shows exactly the the kind of people the wines family are.He said this is about justice not revenge. For the two days after Carlee was run down and before she died, we all agonized over what had happened, but all Steve asked was that whoever did this please step forward and asked that the rest of us pray they do.The Alvinos got the car and tried to cover these kids involvement and destroy any evidence. There is a special place in Heaven for people like Steve,Carlee and the Wines family. There is also a special place in Hell for the Alvinos and Halls and the other two kids in the car that night.

If you had read the avidatied you would know that their not all lies and the only reason they turn the car in was because the net was closing in on them. Get the fact before you make stupid statments.

First of all, why is everyone assuming everything in this article is true. It's not like the media doesn't hype up an article to sell papers. And note, there is no dirt written about this kids background because there obviously isn't any. It sounds to me like a really good kid panicked. He eventually turned himself in and took responsibility for whatever may have happened. As a parent, we'd all like to think we'd do the right thing but we have no idea until we are in that spot. It is human nature to protect your kids. And note: If any of this article is true, they didn't get the car fixed, they hired him a lawyer and had him turn himself in. It is very sad what happened to this girl and her family but this wasn't an intentional act. It was an unfortunate tragedy for all parties concerned. It's going to be hard enough for all of them to go forward with their lives, the media should just leave them alone now.<quoted text>

Any word on if the parents are going to be arrested yet??? This is sad almost two months later and they arrested the two in the front seat and people who provided alcohol. The boys in the back haven't been arrested nor the parents. This is a disgrace. This will show people that it is okay to run from your crime and go to mommy and daddy in another state and they can maybe fix it for you and they get nothing but a bad name!!! SHAME ON NY!!! Get with it they should be set an example of!!!!

The kid was drunk and went and hid the evidence in his mom's garage after he murdered that girl.

His parents helped cover up the crime.
