A Horrible Injustice

I was disgusted to learn that John White, the black Miller Place man accused of shooting a white teen in the face and killing him, only received a 2-4 year sentence. I shutter to think what the sentence would have been if the tables were turned and it was a white man who shot and killed a black teen. Make no mistake; if this were the case, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be shooting their mouths off, crying racial discrimination for the black teen. They would be holding marches to protest the white man’s “joke” of a sentence, because 2-4 years is exactly that, a joke. Shame on the judge for exercising such a gross display of reverse discrimination.
I fail to see how John White could claim self defense. White was carrying a loaded firearm and the others were not. How is it self defense when an armed man is up against an unarmed man? I also fail to see how this teen was such a threat to White and his family. If at the time of the shooting, the mob of kids were endangering the family’s lives, by either trying to gain access into the home or firing at the home, then White’s fears and use of deadly force could be justified. But the teen was at the end of the driveway at the edge of his property, unarmed, when White killed him. I do not understand his need to use deadly force. Mrs. White asks “How is a man supposed to protect his home?” Well exactly what is he protecting it from, verbal threats and racial slurs? While threats and slurs may be intimidating and rude, they don’t justify becoming a gun-wielding, self-righteous vigilante and shooting and killing an unarmed teenager. In a civilized society, the correct thing to do would be to lock the doors and call the police and leave it to the justice system, or in this case, the “injustice” system. Mrs. White also claims that her husband’s actions were lawful and just. Since when is it lawful and just for an armed man to point a gun in the face of an unarmed teenager and kill him? Mr. White claims it was all an accident, but he should be held fully accountable since he sealed his fate the moment he walked out of his home with a loaded illegal firearm. If he did not mean to kill anybody, then he never should’ve taken the gun outside. How would Mr. White feel if it was his own son who was killed accidentally during the mayhem? His life would be destroyed, just like the lives of the Ciccero’s.
I do believe the teens acted inappropriately, I do not condone their behavior. I’m sure that as teens we’ve all acted recklessly and inappropriately at one time or another especially when alcohol was involved, but that does not mean we should have paid with our lives. Daniel Ciccero is serving a death sentence for using poor judgment, while John White is serving only 2-4 years. I have difficulty believing that a man who keeps illegal firearms and rounds of ammunition by his bedside should be characterized as a “good man”.
As long as our judicial system remains partial and unfair, we will never be able to exist in a peaceful society. This case sends a clear message that whites and blacks will never be treated equally and discrimination is alive and well. My deepest sympathies go out to the Ciccero family and all of their friends. I hope they plan to investigate the corrupt, dirty politicians responsible for this disgrace so that one day they may get the justice they’re entitled to.

Parties no one wants to lay blame on

The girl who made up the myspace story.
The parents that had an underage drinkingparty
The "friends" that drove and accompanied Dano to his death.
The parents that raised a son that taught him to solve his problems with violence.
All the authority figures in Dano's life that allowed him to get away with his thuggish behavoir.

I would love to see a civil lawsuit brought and have a jury lay percentages of blame to all the involved parties. There are 4 or 5 steps PRIOR to reaching the whites that if just one wasn't there, he'd have never been shot.

John White did not simply walk to the edge of the driveway and shoot this boy point blank without provocation. He brought the gun as a warning to a gang of teens threatening his son's life and Cicciaro used poor judgement in ignoring that warning.

Cicciaro paid for his stupidity with his life. White will pay for his stupidity with 5 years in prison.

As the details of this case go, it's pretty much a wash, since Cicciaro would probably be dead in the next 5 years if White hadn't killed him.

Hello again! If John White had murderous intentions, ALL FIVE of them would have been shot dead. The judge said that there were moral accomplices---more like immoral. White was just the end result (and albeit lesson). Not one time has Mommy or Daddy Ciccaro screamed, b****hed and moaned about his son's "friends," the tramp who lied to his son, the coward who created the fony MySpace page nor that tramps "parents."
