Oh happy hour, how you taunt us so, with your half-price drink specials and tasty hors d'oeuvres. You'll find some incarnation of this after-work diversion at nearly every neighborhood bar and pub - but suppose ...

Sounds like a stake out/sting to me. Tell the public where to party and then have the cops get them for DWI. No thanks, I don't want my name and picture on the Wall of Shame.

So you admit that you drink and drive!? Maybe one day you will lose a loved one before you realize how stupid you are! Cops are heroes in my eyes for getting people so selfish as you are! YES SELFISH! I have family and friends out on the roads. You may not care about yourself but dont go out there putting my loved ones at risk! There is a place in hell for people like you! What goes around comes around! You will get yours!

I am appalled at Newsday promoting these "upscale" happy hours. Every day we read about DWI crackdowns and accidents. These happy hours are merely gatherings to create the appearance that if you are part of the "in crowd" its OK to get smashed and drive. Happy hours should be illegal!!!!

In response to the comment from the idiot who calls this article a stake out set up - I doubt it. The places hosting happy hours, upscale or not, are probably paying off the police to leave the patrons alone. Otherwise, the police would set up DWI checkpoints ourside these places.

Some people want you to believe this is cool-to-do, but if you're in your 30's and 40's and still don't know this is a waste of your time and money, and maybe even your life, you're a sucker - there' one born every minute. Find something smarter to do with your life!

These places are too important to their counties' tax bases to track their drunken patrons and even if they weren't, the cops are either too drunk or too busy cheating on their wives to catch them.

In my opinion - FOUR is overrated. I use to go there on Mondays, the DJ is fantastic and the atmosphere is fun. However, I can't help but to feel as if they are trying to make a restaurant a club. They let one too many people in and it takes about a half an hour to order a drink. Although they make good drinks, the bartenders are extremely slow. Don't get me wrong it's definitely a gorgeous place, just not somewhere I would consider relaxing.

Babylon Carriage House is awful. Service is terrible, can't get drinks (bartenders BS too much), and food has much to be desired.

Love the food at BK Sweeneys..it's a working class bar and restaurant..(ribs, spinach salad the best)...the bar-about as high class as the parents that buy booze for their 16 year olds at a house party. It's blue collar - which is ok...but not what I would call 'high class'. Just people having a nice time.
What is a high class bar anyway....$300,000/year or more..still the same guys looking to cheat, score, drink and drive...and have a nice few hours after work (to be fair).
I'm married ..did my bar stuff in the city where I lived for years decades ago.there were 'nice' bars (income a factor) and there were 'pubs'...what can I say high class happy hour is pure bull sh it.
Money doesn't breed class...but it's all in the 'perception'.

I've been to the Chalet for several parties and this is a classy place. It is unique in the fact that the upstairs has a beautiful layout and is very comfortable. It is candlelit which is very relaxing. It has an outdoor deck with plenty of shade and for those who smoke. The downstairs bar is very friendly and the music is good. The people who serve and run the place are excellent. If you go, try the chocolate fonfues.

I want to delete some of my 'thoughts'...The bar folks at Sweeney's are for the most part working class men and women-or so it seems. I should NOT have made a connection with them and people that give their (underage) kids alcohol at parties. I didn't mean that and I apologize to anyone I've offended. There is no such thing as high class happy hour...anywhere.

The very rich, the rich, the middle class, the lower socio-economic people...doesn't matter...decent people (if they are) are decent people.....I will say again..money does not breed 'class'.
The notion of high class happy hour is absurd. Shame on you Newsday.
