I agree!
. I don't know why people care so much. Everyone has a history, a past, and some have prolly done worse n juss didn't get caught for it. Giving them a job helps in the long run cuz if nobody gives them a chanced, they will go back to their old ways in order to get by! Them being convicts has nothing to do with them working at our restraunts. I'm glad these places give them a chance as well!

And don't think these Work Release guys have it easy.

Several years ago I had one keep my yard while I was ill.
He only worked on the week-ends for me but he had a full time job during the week.
His full time employer treated him like a slave.
His employer knew if he reported the guy, the guy would go back to prison. And the guy knew it and couldn't complain about how he was being treated.

I also agree with CX about the use of inmate labor in our restaurants. They are getting workers for cheap and the workers are nasty inmates.
I happen to be an inmate on work release. I hold a full-time job as a front desk clerk at a hotel. Being an inmate doesn't make me "nasty" just like you possessing a brain doesn't make you smart.
We actually get paid the same as the other employees but DOC takes a large percentage of it.
Offenders that are serving time for murder or other violent crimes are not eligible for work release. We are also medically screened before we are allowed to work in food service.
People make mistakes and shouldn't be called "nasty" because of it.

I credit the outlets who employ these people. It allows those serving time to ease back into society.
Jeez, one would think they had leprosy the way some reacted.

Not only that but we're also paying DOC for our keep, taking some of the burden off the taxpayers. Before anyone says it, yes, we also pay taxes.

How are you using the internet to access a message board while being a prisoner? Isn't that a violation of the rules?

Yes, it is a violation but if that's the worst thing I do while I'm on my own all night then I think I'm doing pretty good.

Making excuses and trying to justify your actions is probably how you ended up in jail to begin with.

Keep your grimy hands off of my food.

I think it's a good thing. It gives the inmates a chance to learn job skills so they can hopefully earn a living honestly when they are released. Maybe they won't steal or deal drugs. If it wouldn't have been a topic on here you would've never known they were convicts.

True, except for the AIDS and nastiness of criminals in prison that have butt sex with each other before touching your food.
