I know Jonathan Gandy and his family very well. These charges are uncalled for. He is a good kid that looked at porn. Not of little children, but of 17 year olds. He is just our of his teens himself.

I know and love Jonathan Gandy. He is my nephew. He was shafted by the FBI for looking at teens-NOT children. The FBI did this to protect themself from a lawsuit for violating the U.S. Constitution themselves.

Jonathan Gandy is my son, his father and I are very proud of the young man he has become. We would like to thank all who has supported us through this very hard time in our lives. We do not understand nor will we ever understand why this went as far as it has. I would like to let all parents know, to please be aware of what your teenagers are doing on the internet. Jonathan has taken responsibility for what he has done (VIEWED PHOTOS) He had using lime wire which is a share type program and if anyone has done this, you know that you don't always know what you have until you open it and unfortunately unknown to him some contained minors. He did not search out for minors (Anyone under the age of 18 is considered to be a minor) I did not know that you could see illegal photographs on the internet. I thought that the government regulated what you were allowed to view. Jonathan is a minor under federal laws and Jonathan was a minor, a teenager at the time he viewed these photos also the photos were deleted off the computer. Some minors may have been older than he was at the time he saw the photos but, the law states possession which mean if you are 15 or 50 it does not matter. The law is possession, no matter what the circumstances and there only has to be 3 photographs to be charged. No physical harm was done to any person by this, other that Jonathan and our family. We ask for your prayer and we ask that you take a close look into the laws.

I know Jonathan very well, We have been together forever 5 years!!! I love him very much. What i don't understand is why the FBI doesn't want to find the person that put these pictures on the Internet to start with.

A 17-year-old is still a minor at law. What does Jonathan Gandy do for a living? I hope he is not a clergyman.

Patty, perhaps you can help me understand. Say for the sake of argument the "suspected content" was downloaded in the mist of downloading pirated music, how were the authorities alerted to the content on the computer?

As I stated before, this is a case of mistaken identity!!!!! Instead of admitting they'd made a mistake they had to find something and believe me they can----Jonathan was a 17 year old teenager. Can anyone--ANYONE say that some things that shouldn't be on your computer aren't on there????

When you hit the delete button it is still there--How many people have access to that computer??? How about visitors--friends of your children??

A few years back when my children were in school they came home telling a story a fellow classmate told about how their dad was looking for TRACTOR parts and all of a sudden here was PORN coming accross the monitor----this man is a preacher--they wanted to see if they typed this WORD if it was true---of course, I stopped this from happening--just ask yourself this question--What would you do if authorities looked at your computer??? What would they find??? As for Jonathan this happened when he was 17, why did it take so long for them to find it? There is not a count of 100's counts against him--just 1 count!!!

Jonathan stay strong and know that the people who know and love you know what a grave mistake this is and what a fine young man you really are.

This is crazy! It seems the goverment wants to make a statement and use someone to be the "example". How can they justify who to choose and prosecute? You look at this article and underneath could be a muderer who gets a slap on the wrist. "Justice" appears jaded at times.
Jonathan has the support of a great family and he will make it through this but that hardly seems like the point does it?

Can anyone tell me how Jonathan is doing. I would love to reach out to his family as we are going through this too. My brother's hearing is May 30, 2008. I would be in favor of working to help change this law. It needs redefined!! He is in my prayers!

Words cannot express our gratitude to our friends and family for all the support throughout this past year. We have only made it through this terrible ordeal by your prayers and loving words of support. The kindness our community has shown to us is so comforting and we pray that this will help us in the years ahead.
We know our faith in God does not change the troubles any of us must face in life, but we have faith that He will guide us through the hard times. The prayers you have sent out for Jonathan and our family have been felt. We know that God has heard these prayers, and they have been answered. In time it will be revealed. Selfishly we wanted Jonathan with us, but by knowing that God has a plan for Jonathan our family will be able to gather strength and move forward.
Your kindness will never be forgotten, and we ask that you continue to pray for our family.

I would love to send you my email but fear putting it online to get junk emails.... how do you propose I get in touch with you? My brother was feeling that God has a plan for him too, but now I think it is starting to really sink in. When I think about him I just start to cry... I can not imagine not being able to pick up the phone to call him. I am 39 and he is 41. What happened at Jonathan's sentencing? Not sure what to expect. My whole family is coming in from out of town for the sentencing on May 30th. They told my brother he can have people talk on his behalf before the judge gives him his sentencing... the lawyer says it could be about 4-5 years!! Did anyone talk for Jonathan before he received his sentencing? It took the FBI over a year from the time they got his computer to him being arrested!! Do you have any advice??????
