Once again, Connie Moran, the Ocean Springs mare is an unqualified candidate. If only the mare could realize that she is living in a fantasy of her mind! Her credentials claim such things as being Managing Director of the State of Mississippi European Office in Frankfurt, Germany, recruiting new business to the State on behalf of the Mississippi Development Authority. Maybe she could identify what businesses that she recruited. Also she could discuss the fact that she was constructively fired from the MDA after the Governor got the four members of the Jackson County Port Authority Board and one member appointed by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors to vote to offer her the job to replace the existing economic development professional who was dying of cancer. The next issue that she might clear up is why she was terminated from her economic development professional job in Jackson County? Could it possibly be because she never successfully brought any new business to the County or maybe it was related to the fact that she could never get to work and if so, she could never be on time?
Being on time leads to another matter that begs for an answer! Why in the world can she never be on time at any meeting and just cancels after the time for the meeting to start if she cannot make it? Does anyone remember when she was a no show or has kept them waiting? Remember when she was late to the meeting after Hurricane Katrina, at Chevron, with President George W. Bush? She did find a way to muscle her way in, even though the secret service had mandated an arrival time well before her arrival.
Next comes her being what many commonly identify her as, "The town drunk of Ocean Springs". Having fallen off bar stools and being chauffeured to her home from Biloxi and other bars in Ocean Springs, by the Ocean Springs Police Department, seems to have earned her the title. Another qualification that certainly does not provide her with the ability to serve as the chief financial officer of our state is her inability to comply with neither the laws that have been enacted nor the policies of the City of Ocean Springs. A headline of Mayor Leaves scene of accident for 2ND time is not what I would like to see identifying our state treasurer. The second time was in Ridgeland, MS. and previously after hitting a man in front of City Hall in Ocean Springs. How many people could leave the scene of an accident and once again not be charged. In addition to the leaving the scene issue, the Mayor did not comply with SECTION 3: SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN THE WORKPLACE POLICY of Ocean Springs' personnel policy, ITEM F. SUBSTANCE TESTING, when involved in the Ridgeland accident. The policy requires POST ACCIDENT/INCIDENT TESTING within four hours in the event of an accident. Failure to comply with the policy results in immediate termination. In addition to these shady incidents, the Mayor was also involved in an unreported accident in her personal vehicle and saw fit to have her automobile towed to Pascagoula for repair in a shop that would be out of sight of the constituents of Ocean Springs.
As you see, there seems to be a few issues that the candidate for State Treasurer should address. Some are qualifications that do not appear to be valid, while others are detriments or blemishes in her that do not bode well as someone who wants to represent me! You make your decision, but for me, I think that her opponent would be a much better choice for the job. I plan to vote for the one that has real qualifications and attributes that are necessary to represent me. Therefore, there is only one qualified candidate for Treasurer, Lynn Fitch!
