This is another idiot move by Government. They have a forcible search at a hospital without any formal charges,to the tune of $1,122. Then find nothing, then leave the bill with the victim of their forcible search.
Then they will wonder why they are being sued, which no doubt will happen, and should.
Also what in the H kind of search was done to warrant a bill of $1,122?
Another case:
A Cop has sex with a woman on the hood of his Squad Car,while on duty, yet the powers that be see nothing wrong with that, and the jerk was "Cop of the Year"! You try it on the hood of your work car while your at work and that same Cop will probably arrest you and you employer will fire you.

We really need to get some quality people in management positions in government,or else this same kind of crap will continue go on.

The cop was fired.

As for the woman who recieved a body cavity search, I agree that she should not get stuck with the bill. She didn't ask for the search, it was forced on her by police, so the police should pay for it.

So the voters who voted the political bums in (who hired the managers/police chief/etc.) got less than they paid for. The sad part is that voting the bums out won't solve anything, because new bums will be voted in as their replacement.

Until somebody honest without a lot of political connections and/or money can get elected, it'll be business as usual.

Now that there is national attention, they will come forward and pay the bill, I'm sure. It is frightening that this was allowed to occur. The 'reliable witness' should be required to cover something here as well.

I agree that the "Metro Narcotics Squad" should foot the entire bill, and "reliable witness" should have to pay for the disrespect the woman got. Then I would sue the living hell out of both.

I would not have submitted to it either. This is ridiculous. Plus, I'd whack the judge who signed the order, along with the cops involved, the informant and the hospital personnel who performed it. If they stuck me with a needle to force it, their deaths would be extremely slow and painful.

Welcome to the new police state of New Mexico. You elect a Republican District Attorney as Governor, say goodbye to your constitutional rights. With Susana Martinez as governor, you're guilty until you prove your innocence....and pay for it.

Really, what doctor should have to do a cavity search for the police? Are there not prison medical personnel to do this? Did the young woman have the option of selecting a small handed female doc or did some beefy handed male doc step in to do this?

This stuff happens when the public allows politicians to permit groping of airline passengers or a free back scatter strip searches of innocent travelers. At the airport you don't even have to have a 'reliable witness'.

Land of the free? Home of the brave? I'm afraid we are flying the wrong flag.

We are not flying the wrong flag, we are letting the wrong people handle our affairs.

There is a story about the mall cops at the Mall of America creating reports on shoppers for the local police and the F8I. You go to buy a sponge bob watch for your kid and end up being interrogated because you had a curious look on your face while trying to sneak out a silent poof of air and that made the eyes of the mall decide to question you because you might be threat to the country.

It is amazing what pit bulls a little badge creates.

Surreal. Unbelievable. LC isn't far from letting this happen here.

So you get an unplanned proctology exam because someone says they saw you hide an illegal endangered species in your lower bowel and you would roll over and pay the hospital bill? I think not.

Do you want the city to sue the 'informant' for lying to recover the money? That's going to cost the tax payer in the end (pun intended) also.

The folly of what has happened should cause enough embarrassment for the department to prevent future bills for overstepping the line of power they hold. Let's hope so anyway.

Just over a year later a dude in Deming was pulled over for a traffic stop for a rolling stop at the Walmart. Did the fired cop in this case get a job the next county over? They did get a search permit but the regional county hospital refused to comply for ethical reasons. Cops headed north with the guy to another county and the Gila medical center said they would run tests. Found innocent and was sent a bill just like the woman here. www.kob.com/article/11687/...

Man to get $1.6M for humiliating 3-enema ordeal after traffic stop

Taxpayers would have preferred professionalism from those involved to avoid wasting money to make amends for such atrocities. Just say'n.
