This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. This is NOT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE. We do NOT WANT this RIDICULOUS practice to continue. Those in the senate who feel this is *ok*, you will FACE us in the next election and we will do our damndest to make sure you are NOT REELECTED.

Please explain to me how someone who is in our country illegally gets the privilege of a drivers license. When an American Citizen BREAKS the Law, we loose OUR privilege of a drivers license!!!! Makes absolutely no sense to me!

No you dont. You can break a whole lot of laws and not lose that priveledge. That is because we are going to drive anyway and cause a lot larger problem.
Even convicted felons get a license. We all know people who have multiple DWI's tht still drive legally. Your whole premise is based on a false assumption.
Illegals are allowed licences so we can track them and so that they can get insurance, buy cars, and become law abiding citizens.
Taking the licenses away will do nothing to address the problem of illegals and only make the problem worse. Think about it, 10% are in compliance with our laws now. Without the licenses 0% will be in compliance.
We are the only border state that offers licenses to illegals and we have fewer illegals per capita than any other border state. We cut our non insured rate in half by allowing illegals to get licenses. And a native New Mexican is just as likely to drive uninsured as an illegal alien. All we are going to do if we take the licenses away is increase our non isured rate and place that extra burden on the taxpayer.
What else good could it do?
So illegals become law abiding CITIZENS?????????

Dont know about you but my insurance DID NOT go down when they started issuing licenses to illegals or at anytime since. You don't have to have insurance to get a license, you don't even need insurance to register your vehicle anymore and when you did they would just get the insurance for a month and then cancell.

I totally agree. And do they all get insurance like we do? No and let one of them hit you and you wind up paying out the you know what and then they try to sue the crap out of you. This is so stupid they are here illegally and they get more privileges then we do. This needs to stop. Shame on the Dems for passing this.

Well Bedrock Bob you didn't answer the first part about illegals becoming citizens.

As far as the rest goes you are the one living in a fantasy world, if you own your clunker no bank cares what you do, when you receive your renewal registration you no longer put in your insurance information you just sign saying you have insurance. Here in LC the insurance companies either don't report when insurance is cancelled or MVD does not care because nothing is done.

What is it with state senates and being softer? Our House had a good E-verify bill here and the senate removed a lot of its teeth.(Better believe my senator has heard from me on this).

Senators all over the US at the state and federal level are failing to listen to the majority.(and a lot in the house are guilty of this too).

Vote people... Get out and vote...

Then insurance cos. do report by law and the MVD requires proof of insurance on all vehicles. That is just the way it works. I invite you to cancel insurance on any registered vehicle and find out for yourself. It takes a month or so but they will pull your registration if you dont comply. Your assertion that they can just cancel and get by with it is false.
BTW, illegals comply with insurance at almost exactly the same rate as native New Mexicans do. Poorly. And for the same reasons! They have ourchased an automobile.
I am not sure what you are asking about illegals becoming citizens. I somehow think that we both know how that works, dont we? My statement was that those with licenses and insurance are trying to be responsible and be good citizens. We are targeting them instead of the deadbeats that dont bother with licenses and insurance.
Circle talker duh you are one burned out light bulb.

The powers that be seem to forget that New Mexico is known for it's lax rules on getting an official US document such as our NM driver's license and so un-desireables come here from all over the world. We, the legal citizens of New Mexico, are questioned about our immigration status just because we have a NM license. Terrorists are probably in your neighborhood because the people we elected, to represent us in the government of the people, let them be there. Where has the government of the people gone?

No one has given illegals the "right to vote". That is just spin. No one has ever supported that either. The issue was only licenses and there is always two sides to that story.
The Dems can only do this because of the weakness of our governor and the Republican elected body. Let's face it, she has no power or influence. She picked a fight with some very entrenched politicians and cant even begin to hold her own. Valiant, but stupid. She did more to damage the conservative cause than to further it.
Well Bedrock Bob, do you not see the writing on the wall? Our voter registration is filled with people who are not legally registered and if we don't have to show our ID to vote who is to say how many times one could vote under any number of names... So when the ruling is passed that voters have to show their ID - guess who is gonna have the ID's and guess who they are going to vote for? As for Gov. Martinez cleaning house of the corruption and good ole boys way of living is never easy or popular.

Did all of these people that voted this down here legally or did they come across the Rio Grande with their cloths on their back?Somebody in this state has to stand up for its citizens not for the illegals!Go get the Gov.We,the voters need to impeach these people that voted for the illegals and get them out of office.

Oh by the way, is the state going to make DMV staff experts on immigration documents, because the loophole in this is that they ARE not experts on these documents and people could still play the system with false documents.
Keep states out of citizenship questions, can you imagine what is going to happen to states budgets who decide they are going to run around and play immigration police.
