Hope all is good in Fairfield County.
No sinkhole issues here recently. Colder and snowier than PA. Saw a small herd of 5 deer moving through the woods behind us - but they've been avoiding the deer lick I put up in droves!
Icy and foggy this morning.
Happy 2014!
I'm still trying to figure out the critters responsible for constantly tearing up my lawn. Skunk or raccoon looking for grubs most likely, but I've never seen them this aggressive.

Ready for the deep freeze tonight?

Happy 2014.

I'm gratified to know this.

In other words, at the moment we may be
going down the up escalator.

But it has nothing to do with our overall direction.

You are now dismissed.
The warming trend we're currently experiencing dates back 40,000 years despite the fact Paleolithic man drove very few SUVs and only flew via pterodactyl.

That doesn't stop people from pointing to an unusually warm day as 'proof' of anthropomorphic global warming.

It's only fair to tolerate a jibe or two the other way when the weather becomes nippy.

Remember to use the bathroom for #1 and not the outside. Note, if you do not obey then that thing could freeze and break off.

The concern is deer ticks, and the fact they eat your landscaping, as well as the entire forest understory.
Correct, the over population of deer is destroying the forest ecosystem. A reduction in the deer population by at least 75% would be a good start.

Only uninformed people would do this. No doubt we do have a few of them on our side as well. Though I'm sure your side has them more than outnumbered.(You know the folks that prefer to "think" with their wallets rather than their brains. "This can't be true as it would cost us all too much money if it were." When in truth green technology is clearly the future.)

When the lick didn't work I actually spread some
deer urine around too (it's really cheap via Amazon)/

I did this just to annoy Frijoles!

I'm glad it's cold tonight because I have the heating
guy coming tomorrow at 0800 - probable zone valve issue.

It shows up the most when it's really cold!

The wood stove has been getting a good work out.

Snow is a sign of the coming of the Messiah. We'll probably have a record breaker. VWD Day could happen as early as April. New Years day (Nissan 1) is April 1st this year (April fools day) and on the 4th of April, is Jarrett L. Emanuels 30th birthday. Emanuel means "God with us". As soon as I know, I'll probably post it. I haven't decided yet.

I don't have a side. My position is based on what I've seen published and to what degree I believe the data has been politicized.

That climate changes is undeniable. That the climate has been trending warmer since the peak of the Quaternary Glaciation is a matter of geologic fact.

That warming is accelerating now more than any other time before can be argued. That human produced atmospheric carbon is the sole, or even leading, cause of said current acceleration is yet to be proved.

At this point the science of the subject has been so politicized be persons on either side trying to exploit the data for their own ends I doubt we will ever know for sure.

That not panicking into making disastrous economic decisions based on inaccurate or falsified data is the right thing to do? Of that I'm certain.

You should converse more with Hugh.

Both Hugh and you are on the same inferior intellectual level.

Besides, Hugh being gay is craving to get into bed with you or with that other gay American.

Take care.

Why does carbon dioxide trap heat?

Considering the fact that water has a higher specific heat capacity than carbon dioxide, wouldn't you expect water vapor to be a worse green house gas than CO2?

Our earth's surface is mostly covered by water, so....?

Besides, if water vapor levels in the atmosphere increase then there is a greater tendency for clouds to form, reflecting more radiation away from the earth but a dense layer of water vapor would trap the infra red waves emitted by the earth's surface.

Since water vapor is a green house gas, why is a cooling effect produced when transpiration occurs in areas where trees grow in abundance leaving out the effect due to shade cover of the trees?

Why is it cooler at a greater height away from the earth's surface in terms of the normal lapse rate?

Why does it feel cooler when one stands near the edge of a frozen lake with melting ice?

Just thinkin', man...

What?
The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time.
Weather refers to conditions of the atmosphere over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
I typed the word "weather" in my post and so I am correct.
I was referring to this winter precisely and not to any long term manifestation of change in temperature conditions in the world but perhaps a transition is underway as part of a natural geochemical cycle or it could be as Voluntarist would say "weather warfare courtesy Haarp".
Think carefully before commenting, OK?.
at the end of the day, the polar ice caps are still melting.

FR is correct
