"The Sun-News prints a guest editorial today, 9/26/09, that accuses the Republican Party of mass racism. But my earlier Sound Off! call indicating that Mr. Kanye West just may have recently displayed a bit of racism goes unprinted. " that shouldn't really surprise you!

"It's so sad, somebody dumped trash as I'm leaving the university. It's at Triviz, just before you get to Cholla, so would be just slightly north of the Cholla-Triviz intersection on the east side of the road. It's sad that somebody would dump their trash right there." Why don't you get off your rear and pick it up instead of taking more time to write a negative comment about it. Positive deeds will make you a better person.

Did anyone notice the absence of Deans and Department Heads at the last Board of Regents meeting on Friday? Seems Mr. Pino and another Regent asked the university to stop attending the PUBLIC! meetings. what's up? It's not like you don't already have your secret meetings anyway.

I am amazed constantly how racism only applies to white people being racist against black. Black is racist against white. Brown is racist against white. What about the red man, the yellow man, and every shade in between? I have read that in 7 years, the brown man will be the majority. I guess then it will be brown people being racist against the black, white, red, and yellow. Racism is the end result of uneducated, ignorant people. If the color of someone's skin makes you not like them, then you are ignorant. If you do not like someone because of the way they behave, treat their children or their animals, or see some other reason but not their color, then you are absolutely within your rights. You do not have to like everyone. Sometimes even in your own family, there is someone you do not like. Get over yourself! My boss doesn't like me because I'm brown and he is white....are you doing your job? or calling in all the time? My boss doesn't like me because I am white and he wanted to hire a brown......are you doing your job? or looking for an excuse?

"It sounds like a war zone out here in the West Picacho. There's guns going off like crazy. I know it's hunting season, but they're going off. Semi-automatics, shotguns and AKs going off, semi-automatics. I'm not kidding, and the county is doing nothing about it." If i'm not mistaken, there is a shooting range out there, hence the sound of guns being fired.

Happens in front of my home many times. I take a broom and sweep it into a paper bag. That's it.

I think the police department should step up and be heros and people we can look up to. Twice have I been stopped at a red light with a police officer next to me while another car has obviously ran a red light. The officers have had to pretend to not notice. Also how come they can speed on the roads for no apparent reason?

The range is out by the tourist trap. It's called Butterfield range and is one of the best public ranges in the southwest!! the city and the picacho gun club are to be commended on the standards they set and the safety record out there due to the responsible gun owners that use the range. I'm out there at least once a week and have never felt unsafe even when teaching my grandson to shoot.

Also how come they can speed on the roads for no apparent reason? IMO the police are too young and inexperienced. BUT, this is a strenuous job and requires young bodies and young stamina. They don't deliberately miss things. Look at them. They're pretty young. Their supervisors should be cruising for traffic violators every now and then. Get them off their butts and out into the traffic.

The farmers along Shalem Colony road have been blasting away at the thousands of doves that are feeding off of their grain fields.Maybe that's the shooting you've heard?

read in Sound Off! that someone doesn't understand the conflict of interest with Susana Martinez as district attorney and her husband as undersheriff. The conflict is that the district attorney's office investigates charges of misconduct against the sheriff's office. •• Also, they could conspire together against people they don't like, set them up, investigate and prosecute them using Franco's investigation. The defense attorneys seem chicken about this cozy relationship or they would insist conflict of interest cease in LC-DAC. If you sleep together, you probably conspire together. The appearance of evil should be avoided, but here it thrives.

Wait... somebody has semi-automatic guns?! Oh my God! Call the police, the army, the National Guard, FBI, CIA, NSA, hell call the NRA. Until they have fully automatic and are at your doorstep, quit worrying. Of course, from the sound of it you have never shot a gun so maybe you should worry because if that ever happens you won't be able to defend yourself.

Why are you trying to create a mountain out of a mole hill? Are you that pathetic? People like you would be ready to get fooled into believing that nonsense but thank God there are those who were raised by better people.

As a parent of a gymnast at Gym Magic I am unhappy with the way in which the gymnasts parents have formed an organization to raise funds to support our children. It seems that every other weekend or so, there is something that parents are required to do. I think that this is asking to much. The tuition for the gymnastic classes should be sufficient.

If you think it is amazing that the DA Office closed how about all the Courts in Las Cruces closing for TWEF. Next time I hear about crowded courtrooms, overworked judges and staff and a huge backlog of cases - and they want more tax money to build new facilities etc I will be voting no. Take that and stuff your enchilada with it!
