LAS CRUCES >> An adult man died after he apparently drowned at Elephant Butte Lake State Park early Monday afternoon, officials said.

What's up with the waters @ Elephant Butte? Over the years I have been hearing about one too many deaths happening at the park.

Many deaths can be avoided with basic swim and survival training.
Of course drugs/alcohol play a huge factor in quite a few drowning. That of course doesn't get news coverage.

also there are few places in the state of NM for marine recreation. If this is the place everyone goes, it will be the place originating reports like this.
There was no reason to remove comment #2. It was not about this man in the most recent incident, it merely was answering the question why so many similar reports were from this location.
