Is this the development that is having the tax-payers (City of Carlsbad) pay to have the water lines and sewer lines put in ?? I know CDOD had pushed for some development that would use tax dollars to do just that very thing.

Expect to pay pay well over $1000 for town house. These new apts are goig to be pricey I can tell you that. Ever look in the adds for apts for rent? Or even pass by and see a worn down duplex. 1 bed room avg is $500 .. 2 Bdm well over $700.. and 3 $850+. The Mesa Grande Apts are raising their rent again very soon because they are maing it a gated community.

Don't hold your breath honey. Unless you have a couple of letters attached to your last name (MD,DDS,etc), you probably won't be able to afford these. Most of us will only be able to drive by and look.

Who cares what some folks think. Maybe, if some of you loser writers would get off your lazy rears and get a job, you could live in a nice apartment. You have a choice to sit around and complain or better yourself..all of you want to sit around it seems.
Good investment in Carlsbad.

Wow, I love it when something positive is finally coming to our community and all you see are the haters on here. Maybe with nice new apartments on their way, the owners of the old crappy one's will start to improve them to keep their renters. This town is stuck in the 1980's and I myself am very happy to see the improvements.

Ask yourselves why the rent is so high. It is to keep the trash out. Just drive thru this town and look at all of the low-income housing that is available,it is run down and trashed out, the lower they rent, the less pride the renters have. MAYBE IF YOU ELECT MR.NOBAMA AGAIN ,HE WILL TAKE MY HOUSE AND GIVE IT TO SOMEONE POOR WHO DESERVES IT MORE THAN ME. GET OFF OF YOUR BUTTS AND STOP WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE YOU A HAND-OUT. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. AND YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET.

Really! And where do these people paying $1000 per month rent work and for that matter shop!
My 19 yr old nephew has been searching for a job for a yr NOTHING for young people to do in this town. They lost the big stores like Lowes, Target, etc. because it is a dead town.
I visit once or twice a year and stop at Costco on my way from Albuquerque, since the options in Carlsbad are Walmart or Mercado....oh yeah the 50 yr old Albertsons store!

Hey dumb old timer, guess what your nephew must be a retard if he cannot find a job, and yes Lowes will be completed this Fall and Target just bought a big chunk of land.

Quite irrelevant. I'm sure the state of this town, whether one feels it's rosy or trashy, was in existence well before the current administration. Why not take your fringe-driven politico-rants to more appropriate forums?

The reason they are run down and trashy, is because they have LOUSY, LAZY, managers, who don't care about the properties, and care much less who they rent to! They are just interested in the check they receive, and the same goes for the OWNERS of these properties who milk the government and HUD of money which they are given every year to improve and renovate the apartments! So don't blame the poor for anything, but greedy owners and managers who DON'T care! There are many rich people who are just as trasy and nasty as any other people! They are just too lazy to clean up their mess and get rid of their bad odor, so they hire other people to clean up their stinky and nasty messes! NO LIE! Gated community! Tas loco! That does not mean that the apartments themselves will not be nasty and dirty in the inside. I suggest you call HUD and report the owners and managers of these apartments, and hopefully they will do their job and pay more attention to the properties. There is a manager in this town who has been relocated to many properties here in town, because they did not care who they rent to, and they the (manager) gave those low income apartments a bad reputation, when that particular manager does not know how to, or care to maintain the properties, and is presently managing apartments for seniors.

I wont ever live in an apartment with small children. Small children need a fenced yard to play in, plus they are noisy in apartments and it disturbs others.

So you want to trash people for not being able to afford one of these apartments. What is the annual salary in Carlsbad no where near enough for a family to pay over $1000 a month in rent. These townhouse would cost a family needing say 3 bedrooms lets say $1200 a month or $14,400 a year for rent. There are many hard workers in this town look at the receptionist of every business you go into, the tellers at your bank, and many you come into contact with make less then $10.00 an hour. Quit putting people down because they cannot afford ridicules rent. Oh and by the way Lowes and Target will offer starting pay of around $9.00 if your lucky 10 so someone working their tail off will earn less then $20,000 a year. Our rent here is not anywhere near the reality of what salaries our. FLETC and then landlord greed have destroyed the ability for workers to find clean affordable housing. So quit blaming welfare loving or lazy people. It is true they are out there, but many hard working folk do not have a chance in town anymore.
