The truth behind this story is that the investment group told Anthony Dohrmann that they would no longer do business with him and refused to raise any more money for LaserShield. Dohrmann's personal friends run the Board of Directors and put him in place because he offered to run the company on what would make it cash solvent. The Next Alarm deal fell through a month and a half before he returned. He fired over half the company to bring the company in a new direction (although he had already exhausted over $38 MM of investments to achieve only 6,000 accounts). The "new direction" is only an attempt to create false hopes for those that work there and the business partnerships that are left. His business models didn't work, and still do not. The ship is sinking fast.

If they could come up with a smoke detector that worked with their system, it would be UNBEATABLE

Funny- the investment group was being sued and complained about by all the companies like LaserShield they represented. Investors were suing the investment banking firm.
Going into 2012 Lasershield has continued to services customers nationwide and is still in business going strong. They've diversified their product lines. At the time of posts above claiming 6,000 accounts, the company had sold over 30,000 actual systems. After an acquisition it boosted accounts to 16,000.
The investment banking firm on the other hand, went out of business and bankrupt, was pummeled by regulators that LaserShield engaged for assistance, and their principles can't get jobs.
Dohrmann has a completely turned the company around. The NextAlarm principle owner was chased out of the deal by Dohrmann and a group of investors he rallied. The NextAlarm principle drained LaserShield's bank accounts while he was in control of it, shored up his own company, NextAlarm, with LaserShield's money, and spent nearly 8 months draining the blood out of LaserShield. Alex Eliot, the NextAlarm CEO ran for his life to avoid litigation. Dohrmann was reporting his wrong-doings to save the company, and did, as well as having over $25M worth of investor representation vote him unanimously back into the CEO position to restore order to the former shakeup.
An obvious good decision. And LaserShield does offer fire protection. You can always tell by content when someone is slinging mud because they weren't included, or whether they actually possess the facts.
