The idiots in Santa Fe do not want to ban texting while driving or increase the penalties for DWI but want to open bars 2 hours earlier on Sunday. Does that tell you something about the type "leadership" New Mexicans elect?

be able to buy our red wine for the spaghetti sauce after church to make a proper Sunday dinner. I don't know about bars opening.

Isn't it already against the law to use a hand-held phone while driving?

The proposed change was bars, but then again I don't know where you get your red wine for spaghetti sauce. It's illegal to use cell phones while driving in a few cities in NM, but not state wide.

Why not plan ahead and buy the red wine the evening before?

It would have been just another law that criminals will ignore.

We should ban cars altogether. They kill people. These darn cars roll, flip and turn all on their own.

Let's ban texting, that will stop people from dying on our streets.

Let's ban guns, they kill people.

While we are at it, let's ban talking, it kills people if the right people do the talking.

Really people!!! How 'bout we ban drinking, eating and talking while driving. While we are at it, let's ban using all of the many features your car has while driving (wipers, lights, signal lights, radio, a/c, shifter, etc). Yes, let's ban it all.

These are all distractions equally as distracting as a phone. Also, let's ban it from the police too. For some reason, they are above the law and are allowed to do the following while driving: use of phone, texting, use of a computer and typing, use of radios and much more.

How about we stop making excuses and accept that a certain # of driving fatalities will happen yearly regardless of how much we ban.

Stupid people looking for a stupid set of legislators to fix their problems is not the answer and neither are ridiculous fines (and no I have not been fined).

Texting should be against the law. We have already seen how one man was killed because of it. So sad. Many lifes have been ruined because of this. A man will no doubt go to jail and a family has lost their loved one..

Let's ban religion, many people have died in the name of God. Let's ban food, it's killing you. Let's ban air, it's clouding your brain. Let's ban talking. What else would you like for the govt to control for you? Would you like for them to tell you when to have sex and when to go to the bathroom. How 'bout personal responsibility and accountability?
