You know when i was nineteen I had a baby he died at two months of sids. I cant imagine how people can hurt anything so small and defenceless I think if they took a life they should pay with thier lives its just sad that people have babies and they cant cotrole thier anger

I think this another great example of people who should not have kids. I agree with everyone that we need to bring back the death penalty, espically for this guy.
I do not have kids yet but I could never imagine harming them no matter what. It makes me sick to hear these stories and think that they are only given life sentences, if even that. Anyone who harms a child that can not defend themselves should be put to death (they die a painless death compared to the poor child they shook to death or worse). I would sleep better at night if this man and any other parent that could hurt thier child was in hell where they belong.
Brilliantly put. I am for the death penalty as well as an eye for an eye. What happend to those days? In the end they will all get what they deserve. We all pay a price for what we cause upon others, one way or another. Some quicker than others, but I rest easy just knowing their day will come.

It is true that abuse does not target any certain age group, neither any race, income level, or family type and size. It happens everywhere and anywhere. You're label of being a teenage mother already sets many stereotypes and stigmas because many people still view it as a bad thing. It's not being a racist, because your race or ethnicity is not being attacked. It's called stereotyping.
As a future teacher you would think this individual would know the difference. I do believe Sociology is a requirement for a degree in education? It is possible this person has not taken that course yet. As a side note, you are exactly right, it happens to all ages, races, socioeconomic status' etc. No one is safe from the psychosis involved in abuse. However, we all have a choice with whom we reproduce. So, teenage girls and boys, and adult women and men; choose wisely. Make a list of pros and cons before giving yourself to someone. It is perfectly acceptable to create an application in your mind on who is best qualified to sleep with, because children are precious and their existence warrants our protection.

It is beyond my comprehension as to what the problem is in this area when it comes to these poor little babies dying because some moron is absolutely incapable of controlling himself.
The time is here to put a definite stop to this kind of abuse, and deal with these people in the most harsh way that we can. Life in prison is not enough! The death penality needs to be revived and used on a regular basis for these worthless pieces of trash that call themselves 'men".
Anyone who intentionally hurts a small child in this manner does not deserve any consideration, let alone a life.
Finally, let us hope that, once again, our prosecuting officials do not screw this up!
I agree with what you said, except for the part where you say, "...the problem is in this area when it comes to these poor little babies dying...". The problem is EVERYWHERE! I'm so sick and tired of these types of digs. The community did not do this to this little innocent baby. The only one guilty of this horrible crime is this demon named George Trujillo. He could have been anyone from anywhere!

Good point. Las Cruces is a spectacular place in the grand scheme of things. However, it takes a traveler to realize that. Most people from this area do not have the means to enrich their views with the concept of community. There are millions of very deranged people in the world. If you notice the Las Cruces area is stricken with a large quantity of domestic issues. We really donít have deadly crimes committed outside of the home, comparatively speaking of course. It is truly sad in general to have such ill individuals living amidst our population, which is actually comprised of very intelligent and hopeful people; really take a moment to think about who lives in Las Cruces. Overall, I am proud to live here, but admittedly I am stunned every time I read of such horrific crimes that occur in this community.

What's wrong with these people? How can anyone hurt a DEFENSLESS CHILD. Hear me...a DEFENSELESS CHILD. These children don't understand frustration, they don't understand stress or "having a bad day". They only know needs. They know hunger, they know embraces and curiosity. We as parents of parents need to educate our children about being parents. LEAD BY EXAMPLE. GET HELP! REACH OUT! PLEASE. These children do not deserve pain and suffering.

<quoted text> I totally agree with everything everyone is posting. Not only should Trujillo get the death penalty but the mother as well and any one else who was involved or knew this abuse was taking place. However Southwest Shooter I really wish people would stop saying that kids shoulds not be having kids because in this case neither one of these two adults was kids the mother was 28 and Trujilo 23. And not all children who are born to a teenage mom are beaten or abused I for one am a teenage mom and have never laid a hand on my son. I am not trying to say that all teen moms are good moms but there are a few of us that are so please stop categorizing us. You are basically being a racist when you say those comments.
I agree with you. I too was a teen mother. Granted it was not all fun and games. But I did get lots of help from my family who showed me how to become a mother. As you mentioned these people were not teenagers. How sad that they could not reach out to each other or family members for help. Or did they? Either way, believe it or not they could have called the cops, yes the cops, sometimes getting a reality check is necessary. The cops are informed of places to call for help.

Hopefully Trujillo gets the same treatment from his cellmate in jail. The mother needs to be put in prison along with him, she is as gulity for the crime because she did not stop it or even check on her child.

With parents like this, please tell me why we think that it is okay to tell same sex partners they can't adopt kids, if trujillo who is a lowlife who does not even deserve to live is allowed to have a child.(rhetorical)

i do know the difference that is why i said it is BASICALLY LIKE being a racist because when you are racist you assume that because of their skin color they are a certain way so you hate them or target them which is stereotyping them as well. I am not trying to argue with anyone on here I am just trying to make a point that people need to stop saying that all teen moms are bad moms because we are not. How would anyone who says those comments like to be judged by their race or sex? They would not like it just as I do not like being STEREOTYPED that i am a bad mother just because I am a teen mom. That was all i was trying to point out.

Thank you for working to become a teacher (a wonderful profession that allows those with kids to spend time with them on the same schedule) and make life better for your child(ren). Sadly, too many young mothers don't have your foresight.

Thank you for your comment. For that reason that is one of the reasons I chose to become a teacher. And it is very sad that not many young mothers are the same because the are not giving their all to their children but they also make the rest of us teen moms look horrible and like we will never do anything with our lives but abuse our children.

By your defensiveness of your posts, it seems like you are stereotyping your own self. Trying to get attention about teen mothers and how they treat their children. Not everyone agrees with you that people think only teenage mothers abuse their children but this seems like a sore subject for you. Not accusing you of anything before you make assumption and not read clearly what the messages in the post mean. It's sad that any mother, and at any, teenage or not, do not give adequate care for their children. It's not always teenage mothers.

I am Pro-Life, so in good conscience I cannot support the death penalty. I do however believe this guy will probably end up being dealt with by the "inmate justice system". It does exist.

While I am pleased that you were able to take advantage of the many programs and family support that are available for young people in your situation, others engaging in risky behaviors is not justified by your successes. On the same token, it isn't a good idea to drive on the freeway at 150 mph just because you or someone else has done it successfully. As a sociologist and a current teacher I am all to aware of the dangers that come from parenting when not ready. Now, you may argue that you were ready when you had your child. While you may believe that now, wait and see how you feel in your mid-30's and try to make that determination again. I will say again: KIDS should not have KIDS. There is no reason for it.

I should also say that I agree with you, however, that negative stereotyping is wrong. People should not make pat assumptions based on simple aspects of an individual. We are more than the sum of our parts.
