Nice load of happy talk Xcel. Record floods predicted and you stoke up them nukes to run hot in the flood plain.

SHUT THESE PLANTS DOWN. They are decades past design specification and dangerous as helll, 7 reactors are having problems in Japan. Turn ours off now.

Well the Japanese Prime Minister has said there is a breach in containment.

They are running for the hills.

Xcel is lying. It would be worse for us here, it is closer to the twin cities.

He also said the amount of radiation released would have physiological effects. But NOT that it would have enough effect to be harmful. For it will not. 400mSv is too small for that.

Yes Yes Yes Our nuclear reactors are ALWAYS safer and more stable until some accident of nature occurs.
We all can be pretty ignorant and say stupid things can't we. Dont even begin to defend the safety of our reactors America! Know why? Because nature and the reactors can hear you speak, and when they hear idiocy, they get angry.

Germans are turning off 7 old nuke plants.

I guess they finally learned to quit when they were ahead.

We need to relax and not get all worked up because of this terrible natural disaster. An aircraft could crash into my house but I'm not going to lose sleep over what may never happen. Nuclear power is a good option and ultimately I believe it will become more and more prevalent if we can get over the paranoia caused by this Japan incident. Really, nuclear is a smart move and many other countries realize that and have already overcome the psychological roadblocks. Even Japan which was ravaged by nuclear bombs understands the need for nuclear energy and invested in its use. Can you image the psychological barriers they had to overcome to implement its use?

Should we beleive everything that Xcel tells us? Absolutely not, but in the long run they will do the right things to keep our communities safe.
