Traveling to Red Wing on 61 is getting to be quite the task. There are many places along the way from the 316 intersection to the new light by Kwik Trip where drivers fail to notice oncoming traffic. One of the worst places is the Treasure Island turn off. Drivers will avoid using the acceliration lane and pull across to the far right lane when there is traffic coming down the hill, I have seen 3 cars pull into the southbound side of 61 at the same time, one in each lane at 30-45mph with 70 mph traffic coming down the hill. Today on my way home I saw a truck pulling a horse trailer disregard a stop sign, pull across 2 lanes of 61 N, and into the left lane of southbound 61 in front of oncoming traffic, brake lights everywhere!

We all want to make it home safely, let's make an effort to pay attention to what's in front of us.

Stop means stop, in any language. That's why it's called a "stop sign." Course, ya gotta be able to read the sign first. Bring the AZ immigration law to MN !!

You are really making an idiotic assumption here.

"The State Patrol is investigating why the driver didn't stop for the stop sign, Roeske said."
I think I can help with this investigation. One word solution: DISTRACTION!!

I have nothing against Hmong, or Vietnamese people. I'm not racist, I swear. But there is an overabundance of bad driving coming from these folks. Cannot put into words how many times I've had to swerve away, speed up, slow down, or otherwise take evasive action from a confused looking Hmong woman driving a vehicle.

Please, learn to drive, speak english, and read and understand the signs posted around you. For everyone's sake.

Typical Hmong driving. Though I am sure the dumocrats will feel sorry for the Hmong's in Mn for this terrible injustice that we call the english language and soon introduce a bill calling for Stop signs to be in multiple languages including whatever jibberish Hmongs and Somalians speak.

the test to get a drivers license should be much much harder to pass.
the requirements to get a drivers license should be very difficult. less bad drivers and less drivers all together would make the roads much safer.

Was the Hmong woman bad driver in a green minivan? She is all over and I once saw the police had her pulled over.

BTW a friend gives drivers tests and he says you can blow a RR crossing and pass the drivers test.

Requrements allow IDIOTS to drive.

MnDOT is really phocked up.

EXACTLY what my "idiotic assumption" was: The driver was trying to figure out what the sign meant. Obviously, it distracted her (in)ability to drive in a safe manner and she whacked someone. I think the state patrol should investigate you for stupid. My guess is the crime scene would be wrapped up pretty quickly with all the evidence you've presented. By the way, white, black, yellow, martian, I will NEVER defend ignorance, nor the inability to follow American laws written in English. It is the language of this country as determined by immigrants in the 15th through 21st centuries working hard to learn it. When my grandfather came to the U.S. from a foreign country, he knew the absolute necessity to learn English, the language of the United States. He wasn't coddled, ever, and became a successful American because he worked at it. Let's stop giving people who wouldn't defend this country over their countries of origin whatever they want. I say we implement a two-year minimum public service element to becoming an American citizen. The high school in my school district just implemented a similar program that is now a requirement for graduation. Twenty hour of public service to graduate. To become a citizen, work you a $$ off in a civic manner to prove you really want to be an American. And leave my hard-earned tax dollars alone. I struggle to pay for my own children, I sure as H E double-MN-hockey-sticks don't want to pay for yours. Oh, and learn how to read road signs. NOW.

Its not about being an immigrant or not here in this case. Its about stopping and looking before you drive on a busy road like that. IF this accident had involved anyone who was ''american'' and can read as you say it, then it would not have been an issue about immigration blah blah blah. Stops the bullshit talking that IS BESIDES THE POINT. The POINT IS, stop fully and look before you drive into a road busy. Dont try to make it a racist/immigrant issue..cause its not! Its just people not looking carefully before driving ahead. So save your comment for some much more debatable time, this NOT about the immigration laws.

People please stopping making ignorant, racist, discriminating idiotic comments regarding the people in this accident. it was an accident dude..it's not like they ran the stop sign on purpose..who would purposely drive into 65-70 mph road on purpose. Short, tall, asian, non-asian whatever you are, I am sure if you were on that road..I am sure what you thought you did, looking both ways may have been a bad judgement or either way something may have distracted you. I am sure all the people involved in the accident did not wish any of this to happen to them. peace!

I am sure you have it easy now since you grandfather and fore fathers before you struggled as first generation immigrants. So now for those first generation immigrants in current day and time are going through the same thing. Don't assume that they cannot read or write or are not trying to work they ass as you mentioned it. SIGN OR NO SIGN it doesnt someone can ''read'' to know that they need to stop and look. LOOK MAN for the last time it was an accident, I am sure those people in the car did not purposely want to dive in to a 65-70 mph road. Trust me as ''educated'' and englishe literated you will ever be, when accidents happen it happens, whether they crashed into you or you crashed into them. Whether you are asian, or white or black. It will happen. I hope you get into a car accident too, that way you can debate whether you read the sign right or not :P LMAO hahahaa get a life!

You seem to be suffering under the misapprehension that accidents just "happen". As one who has been involved with a workplace safety committee, and involved in several accident investigations, let me assure you that accidents NEVER "just happen". There is ALWAYS a reason that they happened. The REASON can vary widely from accident to accident, but I say again, there is ALWAYS a reason.
