Does anyone have an update regarding a possible new store opening or where the corned beef can be purchased?

I also would love to know where the corned beef came from. My family was devastated by the abrupt way we found out they closed. we have been customers from day 1. also im curious why the employees keep eluding to what happened and knowing the truth but then not saying?? maybe it would help people if we knew what happened or why??

Well people it's been one year. Still don't know the TRUTH of why Elliott's closed. After talking to some people there was plenty of blame to go around. NOBODY is clean on this one. Sadly, I now do some shopping at Happy Foods. I'm still trying to find decent cornbeef. Oh well, life goes on.

It's been more than a year now and after trying dozens of places, still have not had corned beef anywhere near the taste of Elliot's. I am being driven to try and make my own. That desperate! Regardless of whatever happened to end the long standing,
wonderful business, I wish all involved good fortune in whatever endeavors they choose.(Please let it be a corned beef sandwich stand!!!).

There are other places to get a real corned beef sandwich, made the way a Jewish deli makes it. check out Manny's on Jefferson and Roosevelt, the place is legendary. Or Max & Benny's in Northbrook. Getting a corned beef at Elliott's is like getting chinese food at Wendy's.

I read many posts on here and in other sites praising the owners but how do you praise an owner(s) that just rip your job from under your feet in the unprofessional fashion they did? I worked there from the mid 90s to the late 90s and knew the owners before they even thought about taking over the store. Steve was nice to work with but the other one I believe was Peggy? She was one of the most difficult people to work with. She would always say I was slow doing the dishes and always threatening my job because I fell behind. I must of had like a dozen different jobs to do in a six hour shift and all had to be finished by closing time. Overall I'm sad for the neighborhood that it closed but not for the owners.

Miss the Corned Beef. I couldn't wait for my grandparents to bring it to me as a kid and I kept going back as an adult.
